I think Spike deserves a round of applause. That was pretty awesome of the little guy.
Spike: 1. Elements of Harmony: 0.
Cheers Onomonopia.
Spike will always be MVP.
Spike is a motherfucking boss!
And this my friends, is the difference between naive self-deception and a realistic view of the world. Not overly cynical, but not overly optimistic either.
You can always count on Spike to keep it real.
On Route 66.
You know... nobody give credit to the sidekick when he does something the main cast couldn't.
Damn Spike, dude's a player.
I love how he makes Applejack think of what she would do in his position. Applejack will be the first to join his side.
I hope Tirek kicks Twilight's ass, just for Punisher to say, "I told you so."
Am I missing something? What lives has Frank ruined? As far as I remember discounting events that took place before this story all he's done is kill criminals that well and truly deserved it. I don't l know about you but that doesn't sound like it ruins peoples lives, it ends counter productive ones. I guess..... maybe they had loved ones? Eh their life can't have been all that great if they were in love with those kinds of criminals anyway and probably deserve a bullet to the head themselves, society is still better off.
Eh? Whaaat?
For one, being left as an egg to die is nothing like having your family murdered in front of you, it happened before he was concious, if he hadn't been told then he wouldn't even know, secondly I would hardly call the punisher weak for choosing the most efficient path to avenge his family and make progress with stopping the same thing for happening to anyone else. Ruthless sure, weak no. The idea that Frank 'gave up' when he decided on his path is absurd to me, giving up would be sitting at home curled into a ball crying 'woe is me' into a box of tissues. Instead he stood up and fought, I find that rather noble and indicative of a strong will.
Side note: I really don't buy this 'I am a monster' shtick, it feels more like the self depreciating nonsense Fluttershy did after iron wills seminar than a hardened killer who has a strong conviction in what he does. If he truly believes he's a monster then he would stop, the fact that he doesn't demonstrates that he thinks he's doing the right thing, not that he's doing what he thinks is wrong but doing it anyway which makes no sense.
Yoooooo! Spike! My Bro! You are the best one! I like it!
Spike is actually more than capable of killing Punisher. All you have to do is make him have a greed for something. And if it's Frank's death, then the more he tries to kill Spike, the greedier he gets, the bigger he gets, the stronger he gets, until he's the size of Zilla.
More like they really can't understand how the human world works and they see all life as the same regardless.
Again it's more their simple world view where everything is good/evil, black and white. And I agree with you totally, Frank curling up to die would have him being weak and giving up. Instead he got back up and did what he felt was necessary.
Good talk Spike, good talk.
Goes to show that Spike can do things that the Mane six can't. The mane six should be embarrassed about that.
I mean Frank knows what he is doing is wrong. He's not delusional. Thats why he doesn't blame anybody who judges him because he knows there right. But the Punisher isn't about what is right and what is wrong. He's all about what is necessary.
Its easy for the ponies to judge Frank, because they don't know that the human world isn't a simple one.
I'm so glad that in my head it's John Bernthal's voice.
That's right she didn't. To AJ I'd say: You charged head first into a fireswamp and fought off a chimera to save your sister. I don't for one second believe that if the same happened to you, you'd take the same path as Frank. To paraphrase him: You're just one bad day away from being him.
I laugh at Rainbow's efforts and the outcome.
Pinkie.........way to keep up your spirit?
Of course Flutters didn't show
Yup. No one should.
Is he trying to imply that same "orphans and widows of the men he killed" crap that Daredevil pulled? You know what I would say to them? "Well your husband/daddy was scum who did horrible things that made him undeserving of you." Yeah yeah I'd be "remorseful" or whatever, say it in a low apologetic tone, mostly for the kids, but still.
On the one hand, respect for showing off your dragon balls.
On the other.......that's one way to look at it. But to quote a great man who can give simple statements with a lot of impact "You may think so, I do not."
And I'm pretty sure if he was weak and gave up, he would've been lying dead on the coroner's table having that bullet pulled out of his head.
Now that Dragon is a BADASS!
Not sure about the 's' word.
maybe Frank should talk about his arch enemy Jigsaw and see how they would react.
Spike, the baby dragon, just talked down Frank Castle, The Punisher, the guy who can take down a whole family of mobsters.
Spike got balls.
Killing isnt weak wrong but not weak. Some people who are criminals dont learn. Frank know that and Frank took on heros.
I really liked the end of this chapter, but I feel that there's one thing that the Punisher failed to mention to Spike: Tirek is still out there. While Spike may feel stronger than a mere man behind bars, I'm not sure his approach would work so well for a being that bested all of the princesses. Yes, all of them, or did Twilight forget she gave away her power in exchange for her friends? Equestria was only saved by a Deus ex Arbor. It doesn't seem like the ponies have realized that maybe they should crown Twilight's castle as their lord and savior. Maybe the Punisher should have a Frank conversation, Castle to Castle. It's the only thing that's got a friggin clue in Equestria.
7777749
Frank gave up in trying to be a good person, he just decided that the world didn't need more heroes. It needed and executioner.
Frank is a monster, and he knows it. But the part of the world he was in needed a monster to do what he does. A good person could never really do what he does.
7777915
Inb4:
Castle: Dude, you're fucking dark.
Frank: Talking Castle?
Seriously? Twilight is still trying to help him? She better take her head out of her ass and focus on the real problem and that's Tirek. Also, nice work Spike.
What I don't get is why the author seems keen on chastising the Mane-Six for being the children that they are. Instead of improving on MLP's limited writing, targeted at a limited audience.
Seems that it's done nothing but make the Mane-Six, Celestia and Luna look like morons. When they can written as so much more than that.
Shouldn't Equestria have asylums? What about the times that Celestia and Luna lived in? Don't get me started on how no one has pointed out that Frank's methods aren't that much better than societies. His wanton killing of thugs and gangsters creates power vacuums that allow for supervillains to set up their own mafias and claim the resources left over of the Punisher's war on crime.
Not to mention that it never ends, Frank would have actually have made more progress by just targeting the groups responsible for his families death, and then just end his life.
7777907 depends on point of view.
Hatred and violence only breeds more hatred and violence. It is harder to forgive an enemy, than it is to get rid of him/her permanently.
It is not always the right choice to forgive however, some are beyond saving and that is very much true, but to say that every single criminal is beyond saving is taking it too far as well. If punished had his way, every common criminal would face a death sentence, including small things such as robbery and stealing from a store without harming anyone. That is not justice, that is manipulating the masses through fear.
I personally believe the punished is doing what he thinks is best, and in some cases he is right, but he is in the end fighting a loosing battle, because by killing and murdering constantly, he becomes a criminal himself and therefor will never truly get rid of criminality in the world he lives in. Also the fact that for every person he kills, there will spawn at least one or more people with the desire to revenge and will use any means to get that revenge.
7777998 Because as much as I like this fanfic it can basically be described in the catergory of 'bashing-fic'.
A fanfic purely depending on certain characters to be absolute morons to work and for the audience to start hating on them because the author desires that to get the story rolling.
7777963 Exactly.
Spike, you need to know something. Killing the scum that hurt the innocent isn't weak in fact it makes them stronger than they were before and that the world isn't simple black and white as you and your pony friends paint it out to be. And you will end killing Frank Castle if he hurts Twilight? Yeah, i'm pretty sure you would enough balls to say that to all anti-heroes especially the likes of Asura, Kratos, and James Heller who would just reply: "Try it, and you will be the first to die by my hands." Well okay, maybe not die but end being severely wounded.
7778007
It's worth pointing out that due to several different writers, most of them really bad.
The Punisher is actually inconsistent as hell. Some make him a Knight in Sour Armor, most make him into a Nominal Hero, other make him into an Unscrupulous Hero. (Which is what he really should be.) The Punisher really shouldn't have lasted for as long as he did, he should have died by now in the Marvel Universe.
7778036 fair enough. comic book writers is pretty inconsistent,
Also I wouldn't, personally, call the Punisher a hero in any sense of the word. He is necessary evil personified. He is something that is needed, but no one wishes was actually needed, himself included.
7778043 Do you read TVtropes?
Those are classifications of Anti-Heroes in the site. It is a popculture writing device Wikia after all.
7777998
Just because they could be written differently does not mean that this story is wrong. You have probably already realised this but stories like this are more often than not written in this manner on purpose. I for one like bashing the childishness of the shows characters and their ridiculous solutions and punishments, it's also cathartic for me to rag on them in the comments of stories like this. Dunno why, I just enjoy it.
I do, however, disagree that Franks methods only make things worse, especially in the MLP universe where there is usually one big bad at a time and that's it. If the ponies had a leader capable of using his methods on those who deserved it, like Tirek, Sombra Discord and Chrysalis then they would have had way fewer disasters to deal with and it would act as a deterrent to others who would try similar things. Kill four inherently evil nut-jobs, save billions and prevent the risk of not being able to handle them in the future once you've freely given them 1000 years to get more pissed, plan and get more powerful. The only reason Equestria is not a smoking crater just from the events in the show is because the villains are comicality incompetent and the heroes constantly get handed magical McGuffin to pull their asses out of the fire they charged blindly into. Put the intelligence of an average human being the wheel of say Chrysalis for example who has an army of perfectly adapted stealth infiltrators that she decided to amass and use as a direct combat army instead of special stealth operations and say buh bye to Equestria.
7778007
Ha, I read something similar in a comic on imgur, I think it was Superman being talked down on for killing the Joker, something along the lines of
and I still find a deadpan answer I read in the comments hilarious.
I don't think it's reasonable to complain about someone who doesn't harm innocents stepping into that label of killer and clearly and decisively using that distinction in a somewhat positive way. Sure he now has the label of killer but not in the conventional 'shoot the rich looking chick and take her valuables' more like 'soldier fight against evil'. It seems derogatory for our armed forces when people say things like this. You cant hug away ISIS.
Also the idea that every single criminal who he kills has someone close enough to them, that is not already actively criminal as well, that their death will flip them over to the criminal side is absurd to me.
7777719 It's my pet peeve. The sidekick is often just as interesting, if not moreso, than the main character. Spike isn't defined by any Elements for his personality. He doesn't have to be generous, honest, kind, or any of that bullcrap. And at the same time, dragons are, as a whole, a more aggressive race. Power flows in his veins. Domination is his bone marrow. Devastation is his flesh. He is a character that sees problems that should be eliminated. Herbivorous creatures, as a whole, tend to only put up enough of a defense to ward off danger, rather than seek it out and crush it. But predators can go on the offensive. They can reach out. They can kill. They can desecrate remains. Because it's in their instincts to do so. WHich means that Spike, in the context of the setting, is the perfect character.
He has the dragon race's lack of restraint, and pony morality. A perfect blend of power and ethics.
7778061
I never said that... that saying is just plain stupid.
What I said is the fact that as long as the punished lives, there will always be criminals in the world.
7778059 the word 'anti-hero' has lost meaning to me.
People, without irony, says Doctor Doom is an anti-hero, because 'he only wants to protect his kingdom'.
When people start using words right, I will start taking the words seriously again.
7778070 And if he was dead do you ever foresee there not being criminals ever then? I sure don't and would rather have him running around killing the ones that do exist than worry about the fantasy within a fantasy of having The Punisher being the only criminal left.
Edit: also I may have not conveyed it properly but I just meant the whole 'If you kill a killer the number of killers remains the same' as a entertaining segway because it was somewhat similar to what you said.
7778079 as said earlier.
He is an necessarry evil. In a perfect world, a person like the punished would, luckily, not be needed, but he is needed and therefor I don't mind him.
I don't agree with a lot of his actions, but there are a ton of things I don't agree with that I know are needed around the world.
7778061 No I agree, I just think that Equestrian's don't actually have a problem with killing monsters. (Its only Hasbro Studios that have a problem in showing it.)
Tirek is probably immortal and is immune to death.
So is Discord, having shown pulling the impossible with little effort, he most likely really doesn't even have a corporeal form.
Chrysalis probably has a healing factor that comes from the same place as her shape shifting capabilities. So killing her for good would cause a ton of collateral damage, probably the reason why Celestia decided to just let her win. Because if she had used the amount of power she needed to kill the Queen of the Changelings that whole room would have been incinerated, if not reduced into slag.
Nightmare Moon was Luna, Celestia's younger sister, so Celestia had no interest in ending her only families life.
Starlight Glimmer? The timelines she created due to her tampering no longer exist, and you can't really make laws that can be punishable by mortals when dealing with the very fabric of space and time.
Sombra was killed without question, and Chrysalis is probably will die too.
The rest of the villains in MLP are just your average bullies and jerks that you meet everyday on the goddamn street. Nothing special about them, you don't need a gun to deal with them. It's not worth the ammo or the time.
But the fact that Frank has no problem killing Trixie, or just a bunch of rather pathetic and arrogant pickpockets is pretty damn unhinged. Sure Trixie still became tyrant for a day, but she really only was under a corrupting artifacts influence.
And the Pickpockets? The real life New York Police Department would have caught them in a week. And while they are jerks they were too stupid to really waste ammo on anyway. A bit of jail time, (Going by the rules before the 80's. Meaning that they would really find work immediately after the big house instead of being denied any opportunity due to felonies.) and work afterwards is enough for those morons. (Unless they killed and raped too, if so fuck them, sick em' Frank.)
7777769 Sooo... A Jewish Hulk?
7778128 My god I just laughed so hard that I cried.
7778128
Not exactly. Imagine if Scrooge McDuck had the ability to turn into Doomsday because he got looted. Now, change Scrooge McDuck to Spike and change Doomsday to his Zilla form. By the way, I don't mean Godzilla. I mean the tunnel digging radioactive iguana.
vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/idw-godzilla/images/e/e0/Zilla_(GRoE).png/revision/latest?cb=20141202214811
I don't really want to understand the ponies' view of the world. They are trying to view things in terms of absolute black and white being absolutely evil and good respectively. However, this mindset should not exist it only leads to tyranny and pain as those who walk the lines get hurt. I view things as "there is no such thing and true good and true evil, only the views of the individual or group." Meaning that everything is good and evil based on the individual or group watching or acting upon it. Say you shoot at a person to protect your life or the lives of the ones you care for. likewise that person will see you as evil for daring to go against them and their family will go after you. "Pain leads to hate. Which leads to more pain then back to hate. It is a circle of hate that will never end."
7778128
Also, don't make fun of the Jewish. My great grandfather died at Auschwitz during the Holocaust... He fell from a guard tower.
7778064 And the 'morality pet' or person-- to hit at Franks mentally and make him question a bit to himself.
Honestly gonna be really annoying. If Frank actually changes. Also nice job with Frank pretty much ruining the main 5. The scene with him and Rairty. I just wish it was longer
7778181 *Nods*
Got it. Jewish Hulk.
So it's Spike's turn for the main companion of the hero (or antihero in this case).
Mmm... looking back above, I'm pretty sure he told the truth, at least in regards to some parts anyway. Not Rarity... maybe. >.>
And damn Spike... good going buddy!
Nicely done dude.
7778406
Damn I knew the image came from something.
