You, sir, are a genius.

I have no interest in actually reading this story, but the title alone is brilliant.

6392073 Thanks. I can't claim to be the only one who's thought of this title, but I did come up with it independently. As soon as I did, I knew I had to write or draw something, just so I could use it.

Finally, someone wrote it!

And, how are we doing since I left?

6400092 closer to 50/50 on the likes / dislikes. Still getting a lot of dislikes, though, on the comments as well as the story itself. It would be nice if I had a better idea of why/where they are coming from (perhaps there's a group I should remove it from). l'm not too bothered, though.

fuck , now reading this description makes me want to be in the middle of their sex act and eat all the delicious macaroni and cheese that im imagining them spewing out in sexual release :l .....

I gave you one more like, so now the likes are leading.

I was looking for some Mac 'N Cheese shipping out of curiosity to see what people have written. I'm not particularly into clop, but this was pretty well written, so it deserves my like.

I have observed that there is a bias in favour of female x female shipping and something of a bias against stallion x stallion. Nobody has expressed anything objectionable about the story here in the comments section, so I agree that you are right in not worrying about the negative feedback. It's reasonable to determine that people are more than likely just being petty.

If I were to offer some constructive criticism, I might suggest that the story could use more of an introduction. The story seems to start mid-way through, because there is no explanation for Cheese's presence on the farm. An introduction would also provide a foundation from which to escalate to the cloppier parts of the story.

There are also a number of small errors that an editor can help you with.

These things I'm suggesting would be helpful to improve the story, but you provide context for them in the story's description... therefore, I see little reason for people to downvote it. People already know what they should expect when they begin reading.

Ahem, from a strictly mechanical look at this, the writing is mostly sound. There are a few issues with punctuation needing to go within quotes, an overabundance of commas, and the odd awkward phrasing; but for an early work it is quite solid.

As for the subject matter, I love strange ships, I adore them. Mac x Cheese is a great one (some of the mad things I have done include Maud x Twilight, Chrysalis x Braeburn) as one writer of gloriously strange ships to another, well done. Would have loved to have seen more cuddling, the two stallions seem of a perfect size to spoon, snuggle, and talk.

Got no real idea why all the downvotes, nor all the thumbsdown on comments. Personally I am not into the sex (yeah, I skimmed that) but it looks well enough written to be passable. Maybe anti-MM readers? I got a pretty bad vote score on one of my MM stories too...

Earned a thumbs up, nicely executed.

7690119 Thanks for the feedback.
I pretty much ignore downvotes on Fimfiction now. I've seen several people comment that they use downvotes to indicate personal dislike of the subject, without even reading the story, and even when downvotes are "valid", they aren't much use without constructive criticism.

But yeah, I get the impression that M/M tends to attract a lot of downvotes, regardless of content. The same goes for clop in general, all anthro fics, and grimdark. Part of the problem is that Fimfiction doesn't have a particularly useful tagging/filtering system, so people end up seeing a lot of stuff that they don't want to, and downvote because of that.

I don't want to come across as an arrogant narcissist who ignores feedback — but there's really nothing I can do about downvotes if people don't leave a comment explaining them, and no point in me worrying about them when I don't even know what they mean.

7690789 I don't write a lot of dark fic, but recently I wrote an "unofficial sequel" (with permission of course) of a dark story and I made no attempt to stray from the dark matter. I was quite delighted when it wasn't completely hosed by downvotes, but it still had more than usual.

At the end of the day, having a booru-like user-tagging system would be the best way, so that people can just filter things they don't like out of their feed. The downside of which would be that the tags would be "spoilery" in the extreme. Maybe if they had such tags but they were hidden unless you wanted to view them...

The other great idea, that would solve a lot of stupid problems; just remove downvoting completely. All of it. Just show upvotes and unique views. The two stats together will show exactly how many people actually liked the story.

Bleh, enough ranting about things they will never do, I need to write.
