Cosmic Cowboy

I'm a linguist. I like ambiguity more than most people.

Rachis Barbule is a well-educated, upper middle class unicorn stallion from Canterlot. Who happens to have a passion and talent for taking care of pegasus wings. Father may not approve, but hey, there's not much competition in a town like Canterlot! And business is never dull.

These were my two submissions to the OC Slamjam writing contest, where everyone has their own OC, every round two contestants are paired together to write stories featuring both their OC and their opponent's and readers vote for the winner. I only lasted the two rounds, but people liked my stories, so I'm publishing them together now.

Round 1: vs. Obvious Question (Bugsydor)
Rachis loves attending the Canterlot Follies every month. He loves the intermission show, when the playwright brings up an audience member or two to interview in front of the audience. Always funny. Though admittedly very scary when he chooses you.

Round 2: vs. Mango Leaf (WandererD)
An old zebra legend from a world a little different than the one we know.

They were both great entries!

That contest sure was fun, wasn't it?

Now to actually read your round two entry...

Truly a shame that he never took Rachis up on that free manecut. :derpytongue2:

It was cool seeing how the two of us portrayed the characters here in such wildly different, yet completely valid ways. Seeing Obvious Question as the straight man (and occasional deadpan snarker) in a comedy was just so fitting, and yet it's so different from his supporting role in the story I wrote.

I daresay we each did a better job of writing each other's characters than their ostensible owners did. :rainbowlaugh:

While I can't say it was a pleasure losing to you, I can say we had a good time writing good horse words. Isn't that what contests like these are all about?

Did you just retell the tale of Joseph of Egypt interpreting the dreams of the two prisoners, in the form of horse verse? I believe you did. :rainbowlaugh:

As for who wrote Mango Leaf, it was WandererD. Not a bad name to lose a contest to by a longshot.

I wonder how I missed that you posted these. @_@

Honestly, half the time I forget I did, too. They're really odd without all the contest.

We should do another Slamjam.

I hate to admit I've found myself thinking that on more than one occasion...

Wait, we could repost these? I've always kept mine under lock and key because I thought we could only keep them in their respective SlamJam entries.

Maybe I should dust mine off soon...

Hey, it's one thing when you have dozens of stories under your belt. It's another thing entirely when you only have, like, six.
