Ponyess

I just recently started to write stories directly towards the FiM actively, though I have been writing for years, publishing numerous stories at Mibba and the eventual pony story, as far as to the MLP

Well, this story... The grammar is strange, but I've seen worse. Random nouns are capitalised for some reason, but it may be just Rarity's habit. What really killed it for me were misspellings of character names (it's "Fluttershy", not "Flutter Shy" and there are two p's in "Sapphire"), neck-breaking pacing and the fact that, after reading it twice, I'm still not sure whether it's pony, anthro, or human. The tags say anthro and human and Ponyville somehow became Humanville (which rubs me the wrong way too) but then, why hoof fetish? Shouldn't it be foot fetish then?

5441765 Thanks, for one someone speaking up, how else am I to know what I missed?
As to the names, everyone have a different preferrence. Ever seen names not Capitallised at all? Sadly, it doesn't matter which standard I follow, the next guy will complain.
That is a name, but I will still check the correct spelling for it.
Sorry about that, if you could give me a few hints as to how to correct that?
If I spelled the village name "Humanville" it was a hint I placed there on purpose. I use this as a hint in several stories.
The Pet is Anthro, while the Ponies are in Human form.
I thought I had explained the Fetish fairly early on, but from what you said, I guess you overlooked in in search for other details?
There is a chance this read wrong, while you were looking for all the wrong details, where they were never intended to be?
I guess the story was intended to make it on its own, although it is a Sequal to another story, which should be clearly linked according to site standards as well.

Names aren't that hard. Always capitalise the first letter in all words of a name, and be aware of where spaces go. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie are the only ones in the mane six with a space, and Scootaloo is the only one in the CMC without; that covers the most common mistakes I've seen on this site.
It isn't a case of following one standard or another, it is that there is only one correct way to do it in English, and all the ponies (or at least ones with canon names) have a single official spelling.

5443088 Even if there is only one Canonically correct way, that is sadly not the case for the Fanon we subscribed to.
Furthermore, Twilight Sparkle is two words.
Only Rarity among the Mane Six is a single word and Scootaloo among the Curie Mark Crusaders.
I have actually seen some treating Pinkie Pie as a single word, as obvious as her name seems to me.

Most of the names are simple and straight forwards, while a few apparently are not quite as simple, based on irrelevant details.. Apparently Apple Jack is correct names for items out of FiM, so why not inside as well?

5441765 Technically, the gem is spelled Sapphire, just as you pointed out, which makes it correct for the name as well.
With that said, I'll get to it and fix this issue momentarily.

I forgot about Twilight when thinking through them, but Applejack and Fluttershy (and Rarity) are definitely officially one word. Fanon doesn't get to supplant canon, only supplement it; anything else is better defined as a mistake (intentional or not).

5445714 On second thought, the names of the characters are available at the screen where you make your story.
Unless you intend to use it for something in the story, these icons speaks or themselves on this matter.

I am not sure as to how to interpret this for the caonon or fanon adaptations of their names. Fluttershy and Applejack both have canon alternative names.

The reason behind pulling Applejack together seems rather irrational to me, and why this goes for Fluttershy, I have not yet even heard the explanation.

Alternative names? Are you talking about nicknames, because I think most of the mane six have that in some form.

As for why Fluttershy and Applejack use compound words for their names, ask G3 and G1 creators/writers. I'd guess that (G1) Applejack really is named after an alcoholic drink by the same name, and I'd guess whoever named Fluttershy thought it looked better as one word than as two.

5449255 We do have the Pet-names for Rainbow Dash; Dashie and for Scootaloo; Scoots.
What I was hinting at is more of the names refering to specific events, like Apple Jewel for Applejack and Flutter Bat for Fluttershy. I imagine there are several more of these, but then we would have to dig through the entire show to date to pin-point all of them. Well, rainbow Crah came to mind, mentioned in a few episodes.

I used to like the G3, not sure if I actually saw the original G1. Would call it bad taste to name a character after something inapropriate for the target audience, regardles of which audience, or why.
I just don't let this get in the way of enjoying a good show like MLP, since I did enjoy it from the start. Originally mainly for th Ponies, how original was that? Then I do enjoy the show for the adventures as such, they are commonly pretty good, even if we do fall for a few Tropies along the way. I could see us avoiding them.

Unless there are reliable sourses for the alternative names, how does one treat them, in case they are important for a story? I know people in geeral loved Fluttershy's Bat form as the images swamped sites, within hours.
