I'm somewhat surprised Molly didn't get eaten.
Right. The dragons and ponies will have to eat babies in separate rooms.
7860132 Well dragon culture sees it like so: Predator killing and eating prey is natural, prey killing and maybe eating its own kind when it's not even hungry isn't. And um, raping your food... that's totally natural too; I saw it on the Discovery Channel.
7860098 Well if zombies ate too many of the ponies, they'd rob them from dying in more interesting ways! Also I wanted to make Ember escaping with two broken and one half-eating limb more feasible. Providing that help also gives Ember a more realistic reason for allowing ponies to live and conspire in Ember's palace.
Don't worry though, she's not off the hook because she lived through one chapter. None of them are
7860015 Yeah it got pretty long
I meant Molly being eaten by Ember while Starlight kills Sunburst.
7861253 Well I do want to keep the characterizations up. Ember is violent, but not a Celestia-level psychopath, she won't kill a pony that helped her if she's not really hungry. In fact, she's probably the least psychopathic option for a potential winner at this point, at least once Moondancer learns to enjoy her job.
you don't like sunburts do you.

To be fair, I have plenty of characters I like insulted and tormented too
Re-reading this chapter again I came to the conclusion that Celestia is actually more of a victim rather than a villain.I always loved the "mind controlling" trope because of the implication:if you do something bad while being mind controlled, it is still your fault?
Even if this story is gruesome and gratuitous, intentional or not, it paints Celestia as a really tragic character, especially after you find out what she went through as a ruler.

Yes that is what is morphed into once I started trying to give it an actual plot
