So a few questions. If Celly's horn were chopped off, would she be able to regen it? Wouldn't the sirens just get even stronger at an exponential rate vs her? I haven't seen the movies, but from the story, it sounds like they suck up ambient despair, while Celestia has to suck up souls to increase her power. On the human world, it's easy to understand how both of them could easily become incredibly powerful, but the sirens can passively generate negative emotions, which would be much better given the much smaller population of Equestria, and depending on how far their generation ability was, they might even be able to suck up power from the suffering of the upcoming war with the dragons.
7880686 its shown in the movies that they have to actively absorb the negative energy, meaning that just being in a world like equestria would not by itself make them stronger. more, their radius is limited. their victims must be within earshot for it to work. potentially, yes, they could grow more powerful by hovering over the battlefield and absorbing the negative energy; but its doubtful celestia would let them.
plus, the sirens seemed to expend energy whenever they sing or use magic- that energy is then gone, and they had to absorb new energy from whoever they just inflicted suffering on to do it again. a prolonged fight without any others around would make them significantly weaker, especially if their opponent was their equal (or better). note that the "fights" between adagio/sonata & aria and sonata/aria were pretty short.

If we go by comics canon, they're not even ageless. They were only in the future because the banishment magic threw them forward in time. Super extra convenient timing right? It'd be more believable to me if they were just long-lived. So I'm definitely not following canon
One thing they don't realize when the come through though is that they won't get as much energy from Equestrians. In the human-world, the common people were still in an uproar, but in Equetria most ponies have just accepted that that is the way it is now. And you're right; the fact that Celestia's power comes from a constant source while theirs needs constant recharging does occur to them. With them and Celestia, the longer the fight, the less their chances are.
In this story, they can only use beams and shields at all because they are possessed by something similar to Nightmare Moon, but the demon has to pull from the energy store they'd usually only use for possessing creatures, which causes the problems. Basically the demons made a really bad decision when choosing their hosts.
