There was a comic about Dash floating around.
part one was Dash at 18 saying "Kids? no way."
Part 2 was Dash at 25 saying "Kids? Yeah, I want a bunch of them."

has a bit of influences on things.

As for the Floor enchantment thing, it seemed a bit in-character for Dash to either skip out on enchanting the whole thing, or forget to renew it.
that and I don't think it matters too much if Tank flies through the walls, Dash can easily patch it up.
I think it's sort of like painting a house, the spell wears away after a while, and needs to be renewed.

As for the dishes, they're all Greek dishes. Spanakorizo is a rice-spinach dish, Khortasa is basically a Salad with Dill-lemon dressing, and Skordalia is basically a garlic spread/dip.
It made some logical sense for Pegasi to have more Mediterranean cuisine.
