Celestia needs to get over her martyr complex
I see the potential for Twilestiance, but this is just Twidenza... Now I feel sad.
Poor Celestia. She hasn't quite gotten the concept of poylamory, has she?
1. Make Twilight an alicorn.
2. Twilunestiance
3. ???
4. Profit!
4062793
agreed.
so much feels you made me cry, poor Celestia
Keep up the good work, cant wait for the next chapter.
POLYAMORY!
Twidenzia please.
This whole thing could be solved by the simple fact that best pony gets all the mares
4062793 Coming from someone with that kind of username?
4063217
Yes, well...no comment.
Oh ho! This was a great chapter.
It would have been nice if Twilight's proposal was done in a more romantic setting...but that seems to be the kind of luck this pair has when it comes to their relationship.
I liked the back story concerning the black crystal. Consider my earlier concerns on they're abilities addressed.
Ok, so this happened:
Was half of Ponyville replaced by changelings or does that love power knock all living things away now?
With this display of love power, Chrysalis may very well have gotten her original wish with this time spell. Originally, Chrysalis had all her bases covered with her invasion plan. It can be assumed that her changelings had infiltrated and gathered a lot of intel before the wedding. She knew where the Elements were begin kept and who the bearers were. She knew the lay out of the city and even what Shiney's shield was capable of. She planned accordingly for all of these defenses and defeated them too. The love magic between Cadence and Shining Armor was an unknown and proved to be her downfall.
Thus, if one of Chrysalis' spies observed this current display of love magic then Chrysalis could very well begin constructing a counter to said magic. This wedding will prove very interesting.
I'm curious how this budding Twilestia will play out. Will Celestia continue torturing herself for "The Greater Good" or will Twilight and Cadence bring back Herding and have Celestia join in?
4063267
As for what happened in Ponyville...
Well, what happened the LAST Time they unleashed a massive wave of love magic without realizing what they were doing?
Hm, Celestia's heartache gives me some thoughts about Chrysalis' MO and vector of attack in this AU.
4062913
Yes Please!
I disagree with the "best pony gets all the mares" sentiment from a previous comment; there are way too many stories already that ship their main character with everybody, and their grandmothers to top it off. Sometimes literally. But you're hurting me here with this Celestia business. I'm too big a fan of Twilestia to read about Celestia in this situation of self-imposed unrequitability. I'm holding out hope that you're not a complete monster and actually end the story with Celestia happy. Even if it's not with Twilight.
Even though I hope it is.
[Edit] Also, I got from your last comment that the other patrons of Sugarcube Corner just instantly vanished to go have sex somewhere, but entirely within the context of the story, I thought something more 'magical' was happening. I expected the whole town to be deserted, the library empty when they got there, like some kind of Langoliers situation, lol. That could probably be made a bit more obvious.
4063301
And thus, at the height of the Changeling invasion, when all hope was lost, it was two mares eternal love for each other that defeated the invading hordes. For no one, not even the Changelings, could stand against the power of instant orgies!
It was said that the sound of chitinous bodies rubbing against each other could be heard all the way to Manehatten and beyond.
----
I've just spoiled the ending to your story.
4063011
4063332
Because Luna needs some proper Love, not just the "shining" reject.
I always assumed Luna and Celestia were not related by blood but both were adopted by the same alicorn mare (Rosetta a.k.a. Fausticorn)
Twilunestiance FTW!
Yea, so this Celestia is making my heart weep for her STOP HURTING YOURSELF DAMNIT!fimfiction-static.net/images/story_images/102749.png?1368110613
It is nice to see Twilight and Cadence finally tying the knot but still... Maybe Chrysalis can be turned by the dynamic duo of Twilight and Cadence? We'll have to wait and see
You are dead to me
an open-minded universe whould use the magic of polygamy to solve this kind of problem and polygamy does not have to end in a threeway.
4063706
Oh come on, It was perfect!
4063217
4063264
Well, the saying is it takes one to know one....
4062793
4062825
Celestia may have a martyr complex but in this case she actually has some serious justification.
You know all that concern they've been having over Cadance? The scope and breadth of Cadance's power? Imagine if Cadance goes off the deep end and turns that "everypony have an orgy" power into "everypony go on a killing spree because I'm angry" power. Cadance was seriously hurt when Shiny left and losing Twilight too might push her over that edge - especially this late in their relationship.
So the moment Twilight fixated on Cadance, Twilight was off the table for Celestia. Celestia really does need to plan lives around Cadance "for the good of everypony."
Only now that Cadance and Twilight are together can Celestia even begin thinking about joining them. And that's dependent on so many other variables (acceptance from all three parties at once) that Celestia shouldn't be even considering it unless the other two bring it up.
Because Celestia cannot, under any circumstances, risk stealing Twilight from Cadance.
4063552 ... Hnnnng... *Thud*
4064355 and they will bring it up to Celestia within the next few weeks if they can.
A lot of comments here are saying that Cadence and Twilight can help Celestia by letting her join them, polyamory basically. However there is another way they can help. Why don't they set her up with Rarity? They already had sex, so why not see if there is something deeper in that obvious attraction they have for one another. Come on, Rarity needs some love too!
4064403
Rest in peace!
4064833
Somebody already suggested that Twilight ends up with everypony.
EVERY. PONY.
Take that, bloody Spilight fans!
You know, I didn't expect this story to get so complicated... But I am LOVING IT!
The intrigue about Celestia's plans! Cadence hanging out with the Main Six! Loving that. In fact, that might be my only complaint. Needs more fluff of just Twilight and Cadence hanging out with the Main Six in Ponyville with Shenanigans. Minor thing though.
If we get a result of Celestia/Twilight/Cadence... well, that wouldn't be bad at all!
4064872 Okay, I suppose that would include Rarity, not quite what I had in mind though. I just thought this way we could avoid the whole polyamory thing and Celestia can get some loving!
Love that little twist with Celestia. Perhaps a threesome later on?
4064355 You spell out the situation quite well. But let me give further clarifying things a shot.
Celestia does not LIKE playing chess master. She is trying to create a nation where threats like Discord, Chrysalis, and Sombra aren't an issue. Where fear of external invasion while a possibility is an extremely remote one. A place where the dragon migration can be observed without fear of being squashed underfoot or roasted to a cinder. However a nation like that has a price that price is someone like Celestia working from behind the scenes to see to it that threats are handled before they gain any true momentum or solid footing, where the forces to defend the innocent have the tools and skills they need at their beck and call without realizing it ad only needing a bit of gentle nudging to get them into the proper place to use those skills at the proper time.
Thomas Jefferson once said "The tree of liberty needs to be fed with the blood of patriots and tyrants." liberty requires sacrifice, freedom isn't free. however giving up freedom for security as had been noted often results in losing both entirely. Celestia is playing the long game and she has faced a major upset she couldn't see coming and it's rippling outwards and altering all her other plans. She is trying to adapt to this upheaval and I think she's doing quite well.
As for her sharing her heart and body with Twilight and cadence, or giving Rarity a try as has been suggested by others that is a valid point. She deserves her happiness just as much if not more so then any of her subjects. However the question isn't should she allow herself happeyness but WHEN and HOW she does so. If given time to re-strategize and get things to a manageable level where she doesn't need to so actively be involved then yes she can afford herself the opportunity to have her much deserved joy. but HOW is she going to have the chance to do so given her calculations and behind the scenes work has basically been scattered given what happened with Cadance and Shining. WHEN will things be stable enough that she feels comfortable to try and look for what she needs to make herself happy be to with Cadance and Twilight, Rarity, or someone else entirely?
This love triangle isn't crazy enough yet. It at least has to be a love quadrilateral.
4065562
Yup. The key things in this situation is that Celestia knows she can handle the heartache because she's done it before, but she cannot be sure that Cadance can because Cadance pretty much did not the last time around. Celestia is currently paying a price that she knows she must because it is by far the best option at the moment.
Though, if Twilight and Cadance are scheming over Celestia's love life, I'm wondering if Chrysalis may have just created her own worst enemy and best friend. The apparent excess of "free love" now infusing Equestria might be able to twist Chrysalis around for the better this time around.
Wild speculation: at the wedding Celestia shows the strength of the love from her friends (not lovers - yet) and converts the bug-queen. Time for some Celesalis? (Or is that Chrystia?)
4065665 Chryslestia... that's an interesting third option. However much as I think she can be an interesting part of romantic relationships, I'm not sure if she can. Love is as far as we know JUST food to her. We're given no indication she is capable of said emotion.
In the common fan idea that she truly is a loving mother is shaky at best given how she treats her children as disposable, and even sings the words "In my heart there is no room." Meaning she might actually not be capable of emotions like love.
It actually really depends on what isn't known about changelings more then what is, can they feed on any emotion or only love? If only love then is the love of a child for it's parents or vice versa good enough? That of two friends? Or is only romantic love that works? Answer THAT and we can know for sure but until that's explained it's all just speculation.
My rambling aside I'll admit to enjoying some Chrylight fics and as noted before Chrylestia sounds like it might make for an interesting read.
I'm still rooting for Rarity to sweep celestia off her feet. Just in case anyone was looking for alternatives to Twilestia...
I always love characters that "can't lie" yet so often turn the truth into one; the Fae, Bene Gesserit, Aes Sedai, they all know to leave just enough wiggle room in their statements that they can get out.
Even when told to state something flatly with unambiguous terms, she can't quite just say "I had nothing to do with Discord's release"; I think Celestia has been playing this game for too long to say something like that, even if she means it. Now, her emotional reaction after that does make it rather certain she fully meant what she said--or she's a terrific actor--but the statement still leaves just the slightest wiggle room.
Also, every time you have a character use 'bloody' as an intensifier, whatever they've said now has a British accent in my head, no matter who has said it. I've never heard anyone outside of the UK use that term, and so my mind refuses for it to not be in that accent.
4062913
You're forgetting somepony that Luna is apparently enamored with now.
2. Twininglunestiance!
4063267
Herding is awesome and completely in line with how Equestria might work ... in my completely unbiased opinion.
4066228
As Cadance said in the chapter, that obsession became a fear of losing Twilight, fear that she would be hurt, fear of her own inadequacy, which fed upon itself until it was so powerful that it boiled over. Obsession isn't mixed with love, it's a perversion of love.
4067973
Yes, It's not like you've written THE most famous story on the subject of herding in all of Fimfiction. Noooooo.
(Personally, that particular subject is next on my list of clopfic concepts to tackle in a new way.)
Also - I use Bloody all the time! I just happen to be related to some British people so....
4068097
Well, if you ever want to pick my brain about it, I absolutely love diving into the sociology of a realistic Equestria.
See, you're proving my bloody point.
4068131
You will be hearing from me in the near future on the subject, but I need to wrap this story first before I start planning the next one.
Ooooooo, I'm so nervicited to get to discuss that subject with someone who actually gets it! *bounce bounce bounce *
4067973
4066228
While Obsession is indeed a perversion of love, StrangeReasoning still has a point. Obsession's starting point is love. Thus, Obsession still has its roots in love itself.
This makes an interesting paradox. The black crystals were formed from Cadance's Obsession which sprung from love itself. The black crystals cannot stand one bit of love, thus there was no love in Cadance when they were formed. At the same time the reason for the Obsession was due to:
But why did Cadance fear she would lose Twilight or that she would be hurt? Because she loves her. So, love was present then. Which begs the question: how did those crystals really form?
4068305
We're getting into some deeper psychological territory here.
I agree that obsession starts with love (or at the very least perceived love), but while it gets its start there it is changed by feelings of inadequacy, that you aren't worthy of having that love returned. This is what I mean by it being a perversion of love, it is no longer the thing it once was any more than an apple tree is still the seed it sprung from. Feelings of fear can easily spring up from those perceived inadequacies, after all, if you aren't worthy of that pony's love, what is to keep them from no longer loving you and leaving you?
4068511
At the same time the reason you still care if the love is returned is because you still love them. The existence of the obsession doesn't negate the original love. The love still exists but just buried underneath the new, obsessive feelings. You can have both love and obsession simultaneously.
4068698
I think we've got a tomAto tomAHto situation here. You see the love as still being there, while I view it as the obsession having subverted and changed that love into something else. I see what's left as something that can no longer truly be called love, while you do.
Perhaps the distinction might be made that the crystals can't exist in the presence of "true love".
4068131 4068214
What the bloody hell are you two talking about?
Also herding is the way to go!
One gigantic Equestria-wide family, with so much love that Chrysalis dies of overstuffing herself!
4068758
I see where you're coming from there. I have a feeling this subject will come up again in the story. Both obsession and the black crystals. We might get Lapis' view on the whole thing then.
That was a great chapter I'm sure Celestia didn't expect Twilight to do the asking but that was great. Also I want Rarity the give Celestia happiness, I think that would be the best ending I like that Luna and shining are together but I want to see more of it just to see how that relationship is doing Also I want to see if Appleshy has taken off and of course how Pinkie's free love is doing Her and Cloudkicker should get together and be Ponyvillian's lovers I WANT MOAR SOON If that is alright with you
Of course I will get more just need to read the next chapter
Chapter ten and I just figured out where Chrysalis is going to possibly fit into the ending.
I could be wrong but... oh the bloody irony!
Just like Cadance in the last chapter.
I see how that could make Cadance scared of herself and what she might do to Twilight.
Chrysalis stole Celestia's happiness, that is a little sad. That big ol' gal as to give up the mare she might have married in another life to her niece.
They've shared lovers, so why not share Celestial?
YES they finally decided to get married freaking awesome!
Also this chapter was beautiful hilarious and heartbreakingly sad poor Celestia perhaps they can include Celestia in their relationship they have shared partners before so why not her why I love herd pairings so much everypony wins!
I hope Celestia gets a happy ending to.
I think the Polyamory might work...but seeing as things are a bit finished as far as this story goes, seeing as it is listed as Completed..I guess I will just have to read and see where this goes.
