Yes, the plot thickens once more! Good to see there are some Universes where a Royal doppelganger isn't considered the craziest thing on the menu.
interesting to see what chrysalis does with her foreknowledge of events
Booyeah! Fluttershy using them brains to make the save.
All through the main six' objections I kept thinking that Twilight really needs to explain just how terrified Cadance was. This wasn't normal Cadance suggesting something offhand after all. Especially how terrified she was in Twilight's presence - would Cadance really go through that great a performance with Twilight just so Twilight would corral her friends in some kind of plot against Shiny? And Twilight is going with it against her own brother? Something worth checking in to is clearly going on if Twilight and Cadance are so riled up on what's supposed to be a happy day.
Not one of them thought through it like this...
4093126
They wouldn't be the Mane Six if they didn't have to go through some silly boneheaded stuff.
What a fantastic almost same as the show story. That it could be bug butt disguising herself as Shining Armor is very likely and I look forward to seeing how the fight will go on. But will queen bug realize her mistake or will she have no memory of what she did to alter the 'timeline' ? Either way this story has been so good and ain't letting me down at any point. Good luck with all the writing!!!
4093126 And then there's also the argument "what if she's right and we do nothing?"
Really twilight's friends doubting her very nearly ruined an otherwise awesome finale. And I'm glad they see reason in this universe.
I am very much looking forward to the next chapter. :D

Really, not much when you think about it. A lot of variables have changed from the original timeline which could make Chrysalis' prior knowledge not as useful.
Ah the magic of cliff hangers. They keep you enticed and interested, but also drive you up the wall with suspense and anticipation. One can only imagine what the wait was like between parts one and two of "best of both worlds"
Anyway great chapter I'm loving how it's turned out. The discussion with the mane six over weather or not to go through with this was nail biting and plenty of good points were raised. mare do well Past drama, being so alone and desperate for affection. it was a very engrossing conversation to watch play out.
Let's not forget how well Cadance's panic attack was handled and just WHY exactly Luna and Celestia couldn't be approached with this.
Though to me the thing that has me most concerned is the scene that Cadance looked in on. Why was the imposter just staring into mirror and sipping wine in silence? could Cadance have been seen through said mirror? what exactly is being planned here? The wording is very interesting as it was a solar guard who gave that report to the imposter not a lunar one.
Then we have Cadance's terror at love being consumed. Followed with an inkling as to why it horrifies her twice over. The first time when just musing it over to herself she mentions she's never come across anything that could eat love magic before and how WRONG that is to her. Later when talking with the girls how such a being might actually be able to feed upon her. An interesting thought that I don't think is touched upon and might be why the Cadance from the show was just locked up in isolation. Was she to be a victim of mind control once canterlot fell and used to further bolster Chrysalis' power?
The atmosphere was also well handled throughout all of this. Cadance being run ragged between her duties and the wedding, Twilight's unease as to why her brother was refusing to see anyone and how flimsy his excuse for it all was. the flurry of activity that Celestia and Luna were caught up in as well as Luna being as eager as ever to enjoy herself her special day and to connect with her people and her quick action to help Cadance when she was breaking down.
Also another issue that just came to mind, is Luna under control or not? If not then why hasn't the imposter made a move on her? If so, then how different is their magic from that of cadence, Celestia, and Twilight/ Could Celestia or Twilight pick it up? or could cadence be the only one to do so given she is an empathy and love and all that comes with it is in her purview. Also was that foreshadowing that we're reminded of the black crystals when Cadance makes her intentions known if the real Shining's been hurt during all of this.
4093298
I was thinking more along the lines of a contingency plan in case she gets discovered again, like replace every wedding guest/guard with changelings, or something like that. if she knows she was found out the first time, why would she not make preparations in case she was found out a second time?
4093159
Yup. Sometimes I think only the princesses... Oh wait... The background...? No...
Damn those cartoon plot choices!
4093440 A good question as she's oddly enough made the same mistake both times. Namely not doing her research. The first time it was oddly enough not researching her targets properly. She failed to take into account how Twilight related to both Shining and Cadance, much less didn't seem to really put much effort into acting like Cadance and using the stress of the wedding to answer it.
Here she's done SOME research but not enough. Her reason for not seeing Twilight wouldn't fly any better then "My dog ate my homework." Not to mention she's being oddly overt with Not seeing her family... on the very day Shining would want to see his family the most his wedding day. Throw in how She's enthralling more and more of the guard and there are BOUND to be ponies other then Cadance wondering why all the guards are acting so oddly and since when they all had green eyes among other give aways.
4093528
maybe all of the horrible planning is all part of her real evil plan! maybe she wants to be found out! Or.....maybe shes just reallllllllly dumb.
4093549 Not dumb just cocky. The first time around nothing could go wrong because she had a good act going. it was really only sending Twilight off to where the real Cadance was and taunting her into a destructive rage that stopped her as she didn't bother to post a guard... witch Cadance apparently never noticed.
The second time it's because she has for knowledge of what went wrong the first time. So she's focused on correcting most if not all of her mistakes from that attmept... but seeming to not take new variables into account. However as you yourself point out we don't know enough about this plan to spot the flaws in it. This is all speculation.
Oh for f*cks sake... This can go very very wrong...
My heart rate was insane while I was reading this... this is just so wrong!
Poor Luna... I really hope Twi, Cadence and your sister will... cheer you up...
I am not sure which is worse... how much Twilight had to defend her charcter or they believed Cadeance while in the cannon they did not considered it to be true until Twilight walks in with the real bride.
I am also currious on how long Shinning Armor was replaced and if he is even still alive.
Oh well keep up the good work.
Ohhh so much stuff up in the air, but stuff is about to go down ... I'm so nervouscited!
Great chapter!
Love the build up we get to the main event.
I enjoyed the fight between the mane six. Loved that Fluttershy put it all into place at the end.
One has to wonder just how many of the guard have fallen under control. Also, we don't have a giant force field keeping all the badies out this time. No one is even suspecting a threat this time around. Thus, the changeling horde is probably already inside the city. When the hammer falls it will hit hard.
4093074
You have to remember that Chrysalis' big plan was to stop Shining Armor and Cadence from getting together to use their love to defeat her when she attempts this. She has NO idea that Twilight and Cadence's love is FAR stronger.
Damn your cliffhangers!!! I need more!
Sounds like things might actually go worse for Chrysalis this time, hehe.
4094318
You have a very good point, but it begs the question of whether or not she did more research this time round or if she was just as cocky again
Woah. That was INTENSE.
4094318 Actually, that couldn't have been her plan because when the two get together in the throne room and the changeling queen is standing right there, she makes no attempt to stop either one of them. If her plan was to keep them separate, one would think that'd she'd... well.. try to separate them. In fact, there's no canon indication that she knew that they could eject her changelings from Canterlot that way. Canon makes it seem that the changeling queen was simply following standard operating procedure writ large: replace a pony's lover so she could feed on the lover's love, but with the twist of making sure that the pony maintaining the shield around Canterlot was under her control so she could stage a large-scale overt takeover.
Meh. I hope this doesn't resolve in the simplistic way the show did. The best-laid plans of the protagonists tailspinning at the worst possible moment would add immeasurably to this story because the readers wouldn't see it coming from a hundred miles away.
I wonder how long it'll take for Cadence to figure out the last time she's encountered something that made her love magic fail at a critical moment...
[she lashed out with her magic, hitting them with the strongest blast of love energy she could possibly conjure up. [...] The male groaned aloud and threw his helmet to the ground. The mare did the same, and before a few seconds had passed they were all over each other, kissing sloppily and without the least possible nod to decorum.]
I'm, just... going to pretend this part didn't happen.
[Well, at least she’d accomplished one unequivocally good thing today.]
... Right. I know these are fictional people, in a fictional situation, and considering what the fictional situation entails, it was easy to forgive Cadance her fictional knee-jerk reaction. But you really can't sit there and try to tell me that this is unequivocally good. Just, wtf.
[“I been there, yo.”]
lolwut. I know Pinkie's supposed to be a bit random, but the gangster speak caught me off guard.
[“Right then. This is what we’re going to do.”]
It's habbening.
You know, it didn't even occure to me last chapter that this means that it isn't even Cadance's wedding that's getting wrecked by Chrysalis? I mean, I understood that the invasion was going to happen during Luna's wedding, but that peripheral realization that that meant it isn't going to happen during Cadance's still didn't fully realize until like, the next day. It was an odd thought.

The word "Yo" actuallly originated in Philadelphia in the 1940's. and 50's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo
And it's origins have nothing to do with the "Gangster" subculture and a LOT more to do with Italian immigrants.
The More You Know
(The subject of Cadence's actions there is one of interpretation, and I think it was my failure that I didn't explore that thought line in the scene. >>)
Oh this is getting good I do hope Shiny is OK if not Luna will be broken I do hope that Shiny will still marry Luna if not that would make Luna worse. She was so happy Luna deserves happiness. I WANT MOAR SOON If that is alright with you
4099729
It doesn't matter if two people are already in love, and in a long-term serious relationship; feeding them aphrodisiacs, without their knowledge and therefor consent, powerful enough to make them mindlessly fuck without regards to location or audience or responsibilities, is not okay. I know a police officer would 'interpret' it as illegal. I don't really see how it could be interpreted as a good thing at all, let alone unequivocally.
In any case, I don't really want to start an argument about the meaning of the r-word (which I'm avoiding saying outright since it's just asking to start a flame war), so I'm just going to drop it, lol. Can't wait for the next chapter. You know Luna's going to mention that Cadance was freaking out to her 'beloved', tipping him off.
[Edit] Tipping... her off? Women transformed into men is a situation ripe for confusion.
Oh shit, a Royal Wedding with a competent counterplay from the invaded!
4095923 i think he means that the queens plan was to go back in time and stop them from loving each other which worked.
4101388 In most circumstances this would be true, if Cadence was strolling down the street and going hee hee you fall in love and you fall in love, and you two make out in public; that would be a vile abuse of her abilities.
But (and its a shapely well formed butt too) the circumstance was the two guards were already mind-controlled (thus the mind-rape ship has sailed) and we can assume that Cady did not know how too fix that, thus her choice was distract the guards (supercharge their mutual desire) or kill them (I don't really see a third option); and she choose the more compassionate route.
Or at least the option that allowed the guards to live long enough too be healed and probably receive therapy.
In Crazy Cadance's defense, the collar probably looked amazing on Twilight.
you guys were the one’s
ones
I have never seen this outcome before. I am greatly looking forward to this. This is going in my faves just for that.
