Aeondragon

T

A complete deconstruction of the ‘Manipulative Mentor’ cliché. What happens when the Celestia is revealed to be an oppressive tyrant, but Twilight doesn’t care? What happens when the most faithful student sides with her beloved mentor instead of those she oppressed? She swears to help her princess and to destroy anyone who gets in her way.

I came up with this while suffering from writer's block on my other story, Twilight of Equestria. It got to the point that I decided that I might as well just post it and see what happens. No idea when it'll be updated, but it should be fun. The rating will probably go up as the story goes on.

Also, if anyone can find a better picture to go with this story, I'd love to replace this one. This isn't really what I wanted, but it's the closest I could find to matching the spirit of the story.

ooo interesting. I like it. More backstory might be necessary from luna as they hunt her down.

I don't believe I've ever seen a "Celestia is a tyrant" story where Twilight sides with Celestia despite the evidence. In fairness, I personally agree with Twilight to some extent; you can't have 1000 years of proserity without at least a bit manipulation. I don't know the full extent of Celestia's tyranny yet so I can't say for sure if she was right. But here's the thing: Celestia confessed to her crimes and even admitted that they were wrong, which risked turning Twilight against her. She could have lied to make herself sound better.

The fact that she didn't leads me to think that she feels at least some remorse for her actions but still feels them necessary. If Twilight had denounced her for her crimes, I think Celestia would have given up and accepted her fate. Having Twilight trust her reassured her that she had done the right thing and gave her the will to carry on.

Having said that, I don't think Twilight should have been so eager to kill anypony, especially her family and friends. She may side with Celestia against them, but she would want to sway them to her side, not kill them. At least to begin with. I can accept her murdering her friends, but only if you build up to it properly. She would have stunned them all and teleported for now.

Fave'd while I see where this is going.

Thank you, finally someone writes this. I have always been so sick of the twilight turns against tyrant celestia cliché. thank you!:pinkiehappy:

I dislike Tyrantlestia stories, but when someone does something new with it, I'm just a sucker for originality.

Well. That's wasn't a terribly good delivery on a concept I liked. It felt like Celestia was just spitting out your premise rather than actually going along with the story. And Twilight immediately possibly attacking her friends rather than disabling them is quite off.

Interesting enough to keep an eye on though.

still hoping for more
