Can't say I share the thought conceptually, but it was fairly sweet nonetheless. Have a like

Technically, if the events of this story take place shortly after the royal wedding, then the crystal empire has not yet appeared. It would be funny if Chrysalis got into the crystal empire before the events of the series and accidentally saved her from Sombra, thereby becoming a national hero. (given that the people of the crystal empire are residents of 1000 years ago, they are not aware of modern events and are ready to believe and accept anyone.)

An old story I wrote for Christmas. Close enough? Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the story!

now because of these facts i have presented this video starring chrysalis. :D

P.S. I always thought that changelings, because of their insectoid nature, don't like cold and low temperatures.

Now, wouldn't that be an interesting story?

The Ponies reach the Crystal Empire. Seeing it in ferely good conditions they hear a local troubadour sang the story of what transpired:

King Sombra has been defeated by a hero who came from the outside world. Clad in armor darker than obsidian and with the most fearless draconic jade eyes, the greatest champion this land has seen since the alicorns of old challenged the mad tyrant. It was not through sheer strength, but unmatched cunning that earned it victory. And while the dark lord ruled us through the use of force and fear, our new monarch only demands that we fill the streets with nothing but love.

Fascinated by this incredible tale, the ponies ask to meet this new monarch hero. And after a couple of seconds of entering the throne room, Chrysalis's laughter echoes throughout the castle, as the Queen of the Crystal Ponies finds the now stupefied expressions of her old enemies hilarious.

I can't read the story because "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen" keeps playing in my head and I can't focus on the story...

I god dam knew what the inspiration was and what song was going to happen!
