The Cheerful Teacher

The Cheerful Teacher

A short poem about everyone's favorite Ponyville schoolhouse educator, by UniqueSKD

Here comes again another day,
As Princess Celestia calls out the dawn,
So that her sister may rest once again,
While world awakens to greet the morn.

And as the world sits up in their beds,
And rub the sand-mare's powder from their eyes,
They turn their heads to greet the new day,
The bright light of Celestia's sunrise.

In the little town of Ponyville,
Every foal, from their beds, are rising,
Today is another day of school,
And another lesson in math devising.

It's another day to divide and conquer,
Another day to learn the reason why,
As to how unicorns are able to use magic,
And just how exactly pegasi fly.

It's another day to ace a test,
And be the smartest in the class,
And to score a really good grade,
For science, arts, and maths.

So up all the town children get,
Leaving behind their fantastic dreams,
Where they fought with pirates, or became giants,
That from their eyes shot laser beams.

They salute their parents, and their siblings,
And proceed to the kitchen for their meal,
The most important meal of the day,
Usually which is a bowl of cereal.

And when their bellies are nice and full,
It's off to school they trot,
Though some may run back home,
For the exercise book they forgot.

It's a pleasant day as they trot along,
Towards the Ponyville school,
To take their seats before the teacher,
Who every foal thinks is cool.

It's not quite time for lesson yet,
So there's still time to talk,
Before the teacher comes strolling in,
And taps the board with her chalk.

Her coat is magenta, her mane is light-pink,
Her eyes are as green as green can be,
Her cutie mark depicts three smiling flowers,
And her name is Miss Cheerilee.

Cheerilee is a kind and pretty pony,
She's friendly and nice and clever,
She's always willing to help her students,
It's no surprise why they adore her.

She smiles cheerfully, true to her name,
As she turns to face her young crowd,
''Good morning, everypony!'', she says to them,
''Good morning, Miss Cheerilee!'', they reply out loud.

Cheerilee takes her seat at her workdesk,
That same cheery smile upon her face,
She keeps her station neat and tidy,
And keeps all her materials in place.

She has a collection of teaching books,
Which she uses to plan the lessons,
She also has a confiscation drawer,
No playing when class is in session!

She has a box of white chalk sticks,
to write and draw on the board,
So she is able to explain things clearer,
Their understanding is her reward.

The children love having Miss Cheerilee,
Teach them all kinds of things,
They look forward to all her lessons,
Wondering what she will bring.

Cheerilee's passion is for teaching,
To educate others is her joy,
She lives to pass on helpful knowledge,
To each and every girl and boy.

And if a student struggles in her class,
Cheerilee will happily spare some time,
To help that child as best she can,
And assure things will be fine.

She'll do her best to help her students,
Understand what they don't get,
She knows they all have bright minds,
And hates to see them fret.

Cheerilee serves as their pretty guide,
Who helps them along their paths,
But if somepony disrupts her lesson,
They are made to stay after class.

To Cheerilee, metaphorically,
Like a garden, she views her classroom,
And her students are her wonderful flowers,
That, given knowledge, will grow and bloom.

Cheerilee is a kind and pretty pony,
Who takes her students on school trips,
Though she has little patience for trouble-makers,
Especially Snails and Snips.

She teaches her class about the world,
And all the stuff there is to know,
Like Equestria's great history,
Or the culture of the Buffalo.

She teaches her students how to add,
How to subtract and then divide,
She teaches them their times tables,
And at what time two trains collide.

She shows them the periodic table,
And other complicated science stuff,
She explains to them how babies are made,
(Though that one story explained enough!*)

She teaches them about poetry,
And the works of literature arts,
She plays for them the musical scores,
Created by BeetHooven and Pozart**.

She loves it when they ask her questions,
The curious little minds that they are,
She treats each student equally,
No one student is her star.

She teaches her students how to write,
And how to pronounce certain words,
She shows them all kinds of animal species,
Like dogs and cats and birds.

And all the while, her students listen,
Ever eager to learn more,
They show keen interest in learning things,
They never knew of before.

And when the bell sounds for leaving time,
One by one, each student makes their way,
Towards the door so they can go home,
And return again another day.

They wave good-bye to Miss Cheerilee,
And pleasantly, she bids them farewell,
For her, there is still much to do,
Before she can go home as well.

She cleans the classroom, and discards the waste,
And tidies up each and every desk,
Then, she plans out tomorrow's lessons,
To prepare them for the upcoming test.

She'll mark and grade her student's homework,
Once done, she'll pack her things,
And make her merry way back home,
To see what tomorrow brings.

They say that she lives all by herself,
But others claim they've seen,
Her walking often with a strong red stallion,
Whose cutie mark is a cut-apple, green.

She's a smart and wonderful young school teacher,
Who lives in the town of Ponyville,
And teaches children at the local school,
Where she'll continue teaching still.

Her little students truly do adore her,
The mare with the smiling flowers three,
For she is Ponyville's cheerful teacher,
And her name is Miss Cheerilee.

Author's Note:

* This is referring to a Clopfic called 'The Birds and the Bees'. Or something like that.

** SHUT UP! IT'S A GOOD NAME! (folds arms and pouts)

Also, quick question:
Which pony would you guys like me to do a poem about next? The character who gets mentioned the most times wins. Or if nobody votes enough by the end of this week, then I'll decide who to do next.

I'd vote for the mayor. Earth Ponies don't get enough love.

UNIQUESKD FOR PRESIDENT! Er, i mean, thank you again!

3449842 You did a good job. Your meter, pacing and rhyme scheme were well done.

Please stop commenting. I'm beginning to suffer Flattery Overdosage...XD

Another good poem! You really do a good job on these. Cheerilee needs a lot more love for sure, and you showed just how important and awesome she is in this. :moustache:

For another pony, I also vote Mayor Mare! She doesn't get much love at all!

Every time a fantastic story-teller such as yourself or RainbowBob or any other well-known popular writers comments on my less-valuable-in-comparison works, the manliest and somehow cutest SQUEE! escapes my mouth, as my lips curve to make the biggest grin you'd ever see.

XD

:rainbowlaugh: Well, you deserve it! You write some awesome stuff. :rainbowkiss:

3842101 YAY! I PASSED! TAKE THAT, DIAMOND TIARA!

Let's all cheer for the cheerful Miss Cheerilee! Hooray!

I wonder if there is a poetry group here? I think so.

I'll put it rather simply:

I liked it! 9/10 from me!

This is really good. You should become a poet, y'know! I mean, I can't even make the first paragraph!

6884326 I actually do write poetry. And songs that will never see the light of day.
But then I never expect them to, knowing such luck doesn't come my way.
But if at least one person like you likes this little rhyme of mine I've done
I'll grin a smile so big and wide, and much brighter than the sun.
