Fifty ponies volunteered for a mission to travel deep into a cursed forest. Their mission is to find a way to end the war against the griffon kingdom and stop the bloodshed that is soaking their new homeland of Equestria. Fifty ponies took the word of an aging unicorn that hope rests somewhere deep in the heart of the forest, and that if this mission fails, Equestria will fall.
Now, only seven of those ponies are left. They must hold off a force several times their own size and battle the dangers of the forest. All while fighting with broken and scavenged equipment, little rest, less food, and private thoughts of racism that threaten to return them all to the ways of thinking that destroyed their old homeland.
Only one thought keeps these ponies together: If they fail, Equestria will crumble with them, and the ponies that survive will wish they hadn't.
This is neat so far. Noticed two things though.
Were you trying for forest there?
I think slung is the word, I highly doubt that the bow is a relative of a snail. I know these are both a little... late. But, I figured I'd tell you anyways. Until next time,

So happy I read this story. Little sad Eternal died right at the beginning though... oh well. I absolutely love Sea Tide and Twirl, not because they're the only ones who live. Flicker is also one of my favorites. Again I am painfully aware as to how late I am to reading this story, but it's still a great story. Until next time,

Oh wow. You actually read Victory, huh? Cool. Yeah, there are a few typos in this one I'm sure. It was one of my first stories so it got a little less attention to detail, but I did like writing it.
Sea Tide and Twirl wear actually based on Sailor Uranus and Neptune. The rough and tumble one and the elegant one. Flicker came about because I thought to myself, 'What would happen if a Unicorn went all out?' She was the result and she would have won if they hadn't been starving for food.
Anyway, glad you took the time to read this one. It just kind of sits in my list now, but I did like writing it and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it.

Came across this story and was intrigued by the premise. It hooked me from the beginning and was a delightful read gripped with suspense, sadness and a good plot.

Holy cow, this is the second story I ever wrote for this site. And it kind of got buried real quick, so I'm curious how in the wide world of Equestria you found it.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun one to write, allowing me to go far outside the then--current lore of the show and go a little crazy.

Think I found a link from another Octascratch story to either Bloodlines or Who Am I and then looked to see what other stories you had written, still gotta get around to reading Who Am I and the sequels at some point. It is very different to a lot of other fics but definitely an interesting and fitting concept, just feel a little sad for those that didn't make it, but needs must in war.
