She smiled as the little purple dragon burrowed his way through her gem stash. He’d been a helpful assistant the entire day, and she promised him a reward for all his hard work. Of course she could have simply given him a kiss on the cheek. It would have made his whole day.

Instead she had sorted through all the gems they’d collected and selected the most beautiful ones for use in her designs. Giving those she didn’t need to him.

The way to a man’s heart, she mused, was through the stomach, and she had the key to Spike’s.
