When she landed, a sickening crunch, and a wave of nausea told her that the bone in her leg had snapped. She cursed under her breath but kept on going, away from the burning bakery.

Jumping out of a second story window might not have been one of her better ideas, but she had seen no other option.

Only when she was stopped by the Cakes did she dare look over her shoulder, limping off to the side before carefully inspecting the twin bundles securely tied to her back, breathing a sigh of relief when the foals giggled at her.
