Preening was, new, exciting. Scratch that, it was infuriatingly slow and painful. Twilight kept at it however; part of being a princess was maintaining good personal hygiene and she wanted to make her teacher proud.

If only it didn’t take so damn long. When Fluttershy had shown her how it worked she thought it would be easy, but now she knew she’d never be able to match Fluttershy’s speed and grace at preening.

She spit out the last of her molting feathers and leveled a wry smile at the pile on the bed. Well, at least I’ll have enough quills.
