After discovering that Cadence is not who she appears to be, Twilight is sent to another world entirely by the disguised Changeling Queen to avoid her plan being disrupted.
When Twilight lands, she discovers that not only have Spike, Owlowiscious and Peewee followed her, but that they've arrived in a world where the main sentient species is human.
There's still a place where they teach magic, though.
Crossover with Harry Potter. Twilight will be effectively taking the role of Hermione.

I've marked this story as cancelled to reflect the unlikelihood of it continuing. If I do come back to it I'll revert that.

Spike, now 18, has come to realize that he can't stay in Twilight's castle forever. He decides that it's time to finally move out. Twilight, however, seems to have trouble accepting this. After raising Spike for so long, is she able to let him go?

Update 6/12/2014: I've done some editing to touch up some grammar errors and tidy up the dialogue a bit. No drastic changes but hopefully the little tweaks will make the story easier to read.

A somewhat meta short in which the author attempts to ease himself back into writing fiction while the starring character does the same.

There are many different kinds of immortality. Some achieve immortality through great deeds of heroism. Some do it by discovering a spell custom-made to kick Death in the teeth. There are a select few who are immortal simply because they consistently avoid dying.

But perhaps the rarest breed of immortal is the one who escapes death by dying so suddenly that they come back to life.

The phoenix is one such immortal, and Philomena is one such firebird. But for all the time that she spends in the company of alicorns, Philomena rarely thinks of herself as immortal or ageless. When one defines the passage of time by one's death, immortality can be a difficult label to wear.

But life has a way of reminding us of our labels. Sometimes it uses traumatic events. Sometimes it takes the form of a blessing nobody else can enjoy. And once in a very rare while, life makes us fall in love with somebody we can never stay with.

When a nefarious nightly stalker threatens the sleep of Ponyville's studious librarian, it's up to her evening assistant to put an end to this horrid crime and bring the perpetrator to justice. Failure is not an option.
