When the Crystal Empire was banished, the few crystal ponies who found themselves outside its borders were left behind. Such was the case for Lapis Lazuli and Fluorite. Losing everything would be reason enough to give into despair, but can a mysterious visitor help them find a new way to celebrate Hearth's Warming?

After vanishing from a curse for more than 1000 years, little is known about the Crystal Empire and its inhabitants. Especially the final years of King Sombra's rule remain shrouded by mystery. Even to the crystal ponies themselves as their memories remain effected by the tyrant King's dark magic.

Now the Crystal Empire has returned and King Sombra has been defeated, but the aftermaths of his cruelty still linger within his former subjects.

One crystal pony begins travelling through Equestria to learn about her past and finds friends along the way. Will revealing her past help her understand more of herself and find a place in this new future?

During her visit to the Crystal Empire, Crystal Note not only revealed herself to the other crystal ponies but also faced the judgment of the crystal heart itself. While this helped unlock her burried memories, it also left her more in doubt of her true identy than ever.
When she returns to Ponyville to recover from what happened at the Crystal Empire, she is offered help from an unexpected source.

Starswirl the Bearded finds a book about dark magic and is tempted to use it. After using it for sometime, Celestia summons Starswirl to her to ask what hes been up to. After he reveals what he's been doing, Starswirl ventures to the Crystal Empire to drain the Crystal Heart of its power. He then becomes King Sombra after things go wrong

Twilight has been studying portals she calls 'Rifts in the Veil' otherwise called Veil portals. After the appearance of humans in Equestria, she set out to learn and find out much about these portals.

Now she has the opportunity to test an experiment on one. Against her better judgement, she travels to the Crystal Empire alone to test her experiment on a Veil portal that has been sighted in a cave near the Crystal City.

But could this experiment backfire and send her through the very thing that she is studying?

A thousand, and thirty years before Twilight's journey began, another adventure was brewing. A story that has been both forgotten and forsaken. Of two lovers, who had preferred to stay in the shadows. When their love began to tear apart their family, their sanity, and even the life's of other ponies, what did they decide to do? They had two choices, to go into the blinding rays, or stay in the shadows.

When the Crystal Heart was put back into its rightful place, the Empire seemed to be at peace once again. Except for a single Crystal Pony on the outskirts of the capital city. Even with Sombra gone, this pony still suffers from terrible depression and amnesia. This one Crystal Pony has been suffering for weeks now, but the truth behind this unique disease is about to come to light...

Twilight tries to help the Crystal Ponies overcome their fear of King Sombra.

A thousand cries struggle in silence as the wind takes the breath away. A lake of ruby red covers gray stone as the spark there did lay. Our eyes had bore, our ears had heard, yet our mouths dare not speak for the wind had stolen our strength and fire, leaving us frail and weak.

Chrysalis has become the shame of changeling kind, a once rising and respected hero among the hives to a queen who is considered incompetent. Though her hive supports her, she'll need a new food source. And with Sombra casting a cloud over everyone, its even harder to get love and survive.
So she decides to catch two hearts with one wink. Subtly bring down the Crystal Empire and rule it herself, removing Sombra from the picture and feeding her subjects. But she'll have to be careful...
