The gothic bat pony has her secrets, everypony does, but hers are more… dark, more… severe. The sole reason Amethyst has an aversion to things like hugs, it has something to do with her home life before adoption, and she’s tried her best to tell nopony, not even her best friend: Diamond Blossom.

Amethyst Aura sits underneath a tree, the same tree that she’ll have picnics or write with Nightshade Nocturne, her ex-boyfriend. Reminiscing the past, a feeling of acceptance bestows her as she’s moved on a while ago. By kismet’s cards, she finds Nightshade on the other side of the tree, seemingly doing the same thing she was.

Nightshade Nocturne was overjoyed to see her again, and wants what they had before to come back. The feeling wasn’t mutual with Amethyst however. She remembers a huge argument she had with Nightshade, about how her refusal to share her darkest secret, and with her ex in front of her now, the sides of her mind were conflicting against one another.

I asked myself a question: what if I told a story through the eyes of the fanatical acolyte introduced in Volume II — the priestess Angel, who ultimately led to war? What if we saw how Screwball once encountered a filly so utterly devoted that, in time, that very devotion would come back to strike her?

Angel Shores’ tale reaches further back than Meluś’s, though it isn’t exactly a prequel to the whole series. Well… not quite a prequel, but not a full one either.
