Negative Space 3: Filling in Space · 3:53am Jan 23rd, 2016

Welcome to the third and final part of my blog series on Negative Space.

You've seen what I think about the definitions and usage of negative space in stories. Now let's look at the opposite side - filling in that space.

Negative space does not and, not in all cases, should not remain empty. Empty literary space can, in the wrong forms, be frustrating to the reader.

Greetings my good ladies and gentlemen on this fine Spring afternoon.

Today I present a lesson to would-be reviewers, journalists and commentators courtesy of The Sun newspaper. Specifically, a lesson on what not to do.

Hard Learned Advice to Beginning Authors · 12:09am Dec 17th, 2021

As a beginning author, keep in mind:

  1. The only successful story is a finished story. ARE YOU WRITING YET?
  2. Not every idea is a good idea for a story.
  3. Ideas are useless if you don't write them.
  4. Ideas are a dime a dozen! If you disagree, please don't argue with me: Make a list of 100 of them. (See next item.)

Any good fanfic readings on youtube? · 12:34am Mar 1st, 2018

So I really like fanfics. However, I have dyslexia and am also very busy so I like to listen to fanfics on Youtube as it is just easier. I typically prefer HiE fics however I can't seem to find to many new ones on Youtube as I have been listening to them for a while, anyone got any to recommend?

Am I Becoming More Invisible By Now? · 10:55pm Jul 29th, 2021

Not sure if your aware of this but I've just canceled my Crossover fanfic along with my Oliver reboot after it got restored. I don't even feel like writing those stories because I can't even find any enjoyment into doing them. Sorry for being a downer once again but I can't help it. I wanted some opinions on my Oliver Reboot at the reasons why it got dislikes is because the character with a dark past has be done to death (Even if I already did that back in 2018).

I've Decided! · 4:30am Nov 17th, 2015

Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

Thinking over about what story I should be working on next once I get done with the Roman story (which I'm close to completing) I've decided that my next story will be bringing Harmonic Trotivari back, all taken place a year after the events from "Interviewing Mr. Disc."

I broke even! · 7:56pm Sep 13th, 2016

After making some edits and taking in the criticism and advice this community offered to me, the like bar is even, and some favorites! even if I have done it a thousand times already. But this doesn't mean I won't keep an eye out for any more mistakes I will make, in fact, I submitted chapter 1 to a proof reading group to ensure I get any errors, and I'm sure the people in the comments will be vigilant too.

My first blog, chapter 1 help, and various other things. · 8:05am Mar 20th, 2016

I'm going to be honest with everyone who will read this blog; I don't like posting garbage online. I like what I say to have a purpose, to make people think. However, it doesn't always work out that way and I wind up posting some stupid shit that winds up pissing people off or teased or what-have-you. Getting teased, trolled, and having the stuff you post online criticized is fine. After all, that is how you learn and grow as, well, anything. Whether an artist, a writer, a game designer/maker,

Anyone got any advice for insomnia issues? · 3:16pm Sep 13th, 2016

Okay, for a while now I've been having on and off insomnia issues. I don't like to admit it as I find it somewhat embarrassing to tell you guys, but I'm getting desperate here.:twilightblush: I've tried practically everything, from drinking warm milk and taking sleeping medication to just watching relaxing videos of coral fish on YouTube. This stuff either works or it doesn't. Last night, it didn't and I woke up at 7:40 A.M and didn't get back to sleep.:twilightangry2::raritydespair: Any advice

Outline: To Cure Deception · 12:56am Mar 12th, 2016

Continuing on my work of providing examples for my Cumulative Advice blog, no advice is in need of examples more than Outlines. My previous outline posted for DotFR followed the format I call "Proof of Concept" being structured very much the same way a mathematical proof is. Different stories need different styles of outlines, however, and To Cure Deception is very much a chronological headfuck, because it would be a

Thoughts About Writing and Heart of Magic · 10:26pm Jul 8th, 2019

So for awhile now I've been sitting here thinking about the Heart of Magic, or well most of my writing as a whole. Ever since I began drawing web comics I started to realize that maybe I've been thinking about writing wrong. I used to try and write the way I saw it in my head, meaning I was a very visual story teller, but visuals aren't exactly the thing that makes writing work. Describing hair, and skin, and eyes, and what else have ye, it kinda takes away from the magic of writing and
