PLOTTING A STORY - Terrible Writing Advice · 9:45am Oct 14th, 2018
Some useful advice in this one.
AND hilarious snark. Can't go wrong with that combo.
...Have I actually talked about this show before? I'd really recommend it at any rate. Even if you're not a writer yourself there's some good art & humor in every episode. And on a nice variety of themes, too.
I've actually seen a few published books like that...
And is it me or does that glyph look kinda like the Storm King's one...?

To be fair, there's a way to make near any idea interesting if you've just got enough talent and/or time to polish it. David Eddings darn made a career on having people ride/march for weeks, occasionally get attacked, and snark about The Prophecy™ in-between, and on surface level that sounds like the most boring bunch of nonsense ever.
But... well, those are the exceptions. Unless you're dead-certain you're the next Tolkien it might be a tiny~ bit of a good idea to get your book started before page onehundred-twenty, you know?
Hmm... can see it, now that you mention it.
Still, a magic staff with two prongs holding a crystal is a rather standard fantasy design. Even Dark Souls 2 has one of 'em.
