That's right! Steamboat Willie hit public domain today! And in the states, too!

So be sure to draw or depict Mickey, Girl Mickey, & Black Pete exactly as in that first cartoon, except the huge~ ccks you designed to be ~exotic~ or whatever, and those rabid jerks at Disney can only grit their teeth now!

Oh, and Tigger can come too, as long as its the living stuffed toy version from the book.

All joking aside? Hollywood must be sweating. We're already scraping up against some of the last notable silent movies hitting public domain, before sound shook the entire industry completely around. Like Speedy, a movie that outright got reissued with sound to get more butts into seats.

Interesting times. Going to be very... interesting, how some of the big players react, once still famous stuff like Wizard of Oz, Tarzan, or freakin' The Hobbit hits public domain. Not quite there yet with those three, but we're not THAT many years away, either.
