My first blog, chapter 1 help, and various other things. · 8:05am Mar 20th, 2016
I'm going to be honest with everyone who will read this blog; I don't like posting garbage online. I like what I say to have a purpose, to make people think. However, it doesn't always work out that way and I wind up posting some stupid shit that winds up pissing people off or teased or what-have-you. Getting teased, trolled, and having the stuff you post online criticized is fine. After all, that is how you learn and grow as, well, anything. Whether an artist, a writer, a game designer/maker, or whatever else. I guess what I am trying to say is that I expect perfection out of myself, even if I know that is "impossible" currently due to my need to grow as a person through life experiences, reading, talking to people, and just enjoying life.
With that out of the way, I can get to rest of this blog. I am currently looking for ideas for chapter one of my story titled "Alone at sunset". This chapter will take place during the school day, that means I'll be writing about certain classes as best as I could. It has been so long since I have set foot into an high school. As such, I don't know what "new" classes or things they offer currently; such as extra curricular activities, events, e.c.t. I could always play it safe and use the same boring old cliches about high school, which wouldn't technically be bad considering that is what Equestria Girls essentially is: high school cliches.
Anyway, On to my next "request". I stink at coming up with good, original names. Everyone in Equestria Girl has a name that corresponds to their equestrian counterpart; Twilight Sparkle in the human world is Twilight Sparkle in Equestria, Luna is Luna, e.c.t. Would it make sense in the universe of Equestria Girls to have characters called Ashley, Bob, James, or Danny? That seem like it would make sense in the context of that world. Though Equestria Girls is suppose to be "our" world, thus, anything in our world would be okay to write about in Equestria Girls. That includes certain themes that I've always felt wouldn't work in the pony universe.
I'm not sure if domestic violence, rape, murder, or anything else could work in the pony; though that might be more my inability as a writer that makes me think those themes couldn't work in the pony-verse. Ponies are mammals just like humans and as such, have the same feelings as we do. They get sad, they get mad, the can kill, they can rape, I think. My point is, it shouldn't be hard for me to write a story with those themes that takes place in the pony-verse. Yet, I find it hard.
I think part of the problem is that I don't see the ponies as weak characters. They have ways of defending themselves should someone try to attack them, try to kill them, or other such crimes. Damn it, I'm thinking way too much about this. I should just write what I want to, try to make it make sense in the context of the plot and not worry about all this. Sometimes you just have to stop thinking and just do. Grab life by the balls. Make lemonade when life gives you lemons.
Or you could through those lemons back at life, have them explode thus giving a giant "fuck you" to life as you laugh in its face. Anyway, this has gone on long enough. I'll say a few more things then post it. I'm not sure if anything I've said so far will be a problem or not. I'm just trying to express myself as best as I can.
So, to recap my points as I went on a tangent up there:
1) Would using names like Bob or Nancy or Jeff with real last names make sense in the context of Equestria Girls?
2) Which themes would make more sense for which universe?
I'm not sure if I made sense with this blog post honestly. I feel like I didn't, but that is for you to decide.
1. To be honest: not in my opinion. Either you stick with pony names or change all the names to more "normal" human names. But it wont be EQG then, just humanized.
2. I've read stories about almost everything except genocide so in the end it's up to you what you think you can write.

The problem is coming up with names for the characters and their personalities, goals, desires, e.c.t. That was the point of this blog, to get some help in thinking up pony names. Got any tips?
Sure.

Thank you. I will try to work these names in according to the class I write about. Some of them should be easy to write classes for, others, not so much. I'll add an Author's note at the end of the chapter crediting you for these. Have a good day/night/evening.
Your welcome. Have a good day yourself!
