Stable 27 is one of four Stables built in the Crystal Empire. Intended to last for eighty years, the Stable is now more than a hundred years past it's use by. The machines there weren't made to last forever. Two of its inhabitants are sent out to comb the ruins of a once mighty empire for a water processor, and in the process, discover a device that may just save all of Equestria.

In the wake of Celestia's return to Equus, the ponies have worked tirelessly to prepare for the arrival of the Ascended. Defenses have been set up, weapons prepared, allies warned, but most important of all in the minds of both Diarchs, a cure for the Indoctrination has been pursued.

The Ascended, or the Reapers as they are known to the rest of the galaxy, are not amused. They attack in force, unwilling to stand by and let this small, barely space-worthy race of unascended quadrupeds neutralize their most effective weapon in their march towards galactic cleansing.

Now they too shall learn to fear the dark, and the Princess who controls it.

Rainbow Dash publishes a book about how awesome she is. Of course her first published book would be about that.

Rarity witnesses something that sparks her fashion sense once Applejack drops her hat. She sees great potential that can be brought out and make Applejack beautiful than she allows herself to let on. Somepony crashes into Applejack's barn in the middle of the night. Applejack becomes horrified once she sees who it is and does everything she can to teach that pony a lesson they will never forget and make it stick with them for the rest of their life.

Spike feels very melancholy about Hearts and Hooves Day. He starts to feel doubtful about his feelings for Rarity and seeks to confront her about it. Twilight surprises Spike for the day itself but he didn't seem to be receptive to her surprise at all, leaving Twilight feeling broken. Spike is also dealing with feelings of wanting to grow up fast and be mature like the ponies around him.

When dashing off into the sunset and jacking leaves off trees, Applejack and Rainbow Dash realise that they share something special between each other. Through heated competition, they make each other very happy. How could they not be, after discovering each other as such worthy opponents? It's their rivalry, made of tough love.
