My name is Sombra Lucent. I am a resident of the Crystal Kingdom, hailing from the upper class sector. I am making this journal entry to archive my recent magical studies of artifacts and our history.
For as long as our people can remember, our kingdom has been the heart of Equestria. We keep balance and harmony across the land, and take great pride in our duty. Our love is their love, say they say.
But I want to find the source of all of this. I want to discover why the Crystal chose us in this otherwise desolate tundra of cold and ice, and what effects it may have on the kingdom itself. All of this exposure to the crystal has given our coats a glorious shine, and we as the shining guardians of Equestria have been aptly named 'Crystal Ponies'. But while our role in this world is strong, we are also quite fragile in mind and in body.
I have left the kingdom, braving the snow and ice to locate answers to our past and the origins of the crystal. I also hope to find some way to improve my magic and perhaps bring new ideas and studies to what I consider an otherwise crumbling society. They need a leader, they need to stop with their dreams of a crystal princess because in all this time of waiting and legend, there has never been one present among us. She is just a bed-time story for foals at this point, and I refuse to accept the praise and reliance on something that simply isn't there.

But she doesn't care.

A short tale about Big Mac and Applebloom. Nothing too spectacular, but I hope you like it. Takes place a couple of years before the start of Season 1.

He had reasons for all he did, and they seemed like valid ones to him. Perhaps he was wrong. Perhaps his fate was justified.

He only wanted to protect his people.

This is his story.

5 Years after the Royal Coronation of Twilight Sparkle, much of Equestria has fallen into a sleepy peace. Peace has allowed some of the Mane 6 to settle down and focus on other things besides saving the world. Over time, Fluttershy and Bic Mac have decided they have feelings they further want to explore, while romantic tensions and confusion begin to finally surface between two other members of the Mane 6.

Mean while, an expedition to the Macintosh Mountains leads to an amazing and terrifying discovery. With a forgotten evil back on the rise and members of Ponyville and Canterlot mysteriously being taken by what witnesses describe as an Alicorn, the Elements of Harmony are about to be tested like never before. The cost to defeat this rising evil may prove to be too high as the very soul of one of our heroes is put in jeopardy.

In a universe full of infinite possibilities, Nightmare Moon has ruled Equestria in Eternal Night for one-thousand years. But when she is shown a vision of a world where ponies live happily in sunlight and where Celestia still holds dominion, she begins to fear for her crown. With the aid of powerful magic and an entire army behind her, she lays siege to the other world.
The tear in the fabric of reality threatens to unleash even more unspeakable horrors, and when Spike goes missing, Twilight Sparkle and the Bearers of Harmony must cross to the world of darkness and find themselves to help close the portal linking the two worlds together.
But in this new world, not everyone is who they seem....

This story is a sequel to The Snowpony

The Crystal Empire is old and strong and arrogant. It is the sole domain of ponydom outside the Sisters' rule, a preserved reminder of the days that passed long before the foundation of Equestria.

And it teaches its lessons well.

A story about the rise of King Sombra. Updates on a "I have no idea when" type basis. Dark and stupidly avoidant of proper nouns.

A Note On Sequels: None of them take place in the same location or carry the same themes. They're more a sort of loosely connected character arc for Princess Luna, starting with The Snowpony, that can be thought of as 'canonical' to one another.

History remembers King Sombra (when it remembers him at all) as a slavering beast so consumed by his lust for power that he plunged an entire empire into ruin. But who was Sombra? Why did he do what he did? What did he even do?

Big Macintosh is working on the farm, and decides to visit the graves of his father and grandfather. Little did he expect that he'd be meeting the shy pegasus of the Everfree Forest, Fluttershy. After Big Macintosh helps her with an issue they decide to meet up for some tea. Is fate trying to drive these two into each others arms by trapping them in her cottage with a storm?
