A military vet has lived in a dull world. Chris's friends are all that keep him from giving up, but an unusual visit from a certain group of girls sends his life off the rails. Fluttershy lets Derpy stay with her after her coltfriend kicks the scatterbrained mare out of his home. Pregnant with his foal, she seeks out Fluttershy's help as midwife and confidant. Sparkler and Dinky make their presence known when her ex-husband dumps them on the two pegasi. Now finished.

Derpy has been summoned to Canterlot by Princess Celestia. She has been fitted with the ceremonial armour of the Royal Guard, and has been brought to a courthouse. The princess has asked her to speak of an event in her past that she has no memory of. An event that changed her life and altered her personality. She just has to keep reminding herself that "most days are pretty good."

The princess of the night has never been fully accepted back into the community, whether it was because her subjects felt she didn't deserve to be, or because she felt she didn't. She is still fighting with her inner demons, as well as attempting to redeem herself of her past sins. These days, it seems the only one who treats her with full respect is Celestia.
Or at least, that's what she believed, until one shy, winged, animal caretaker meets her.

Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are asked to meet Princess Luna early one morning, and are told that Luna needs their help to regain the last of the power she lost when she was banished to the moon.

On the way, Rainbow Dash tries to deal with her feelings for Fluttershy, feelings that she never knew she had, while Fluttershy must decide on what she would like as a reward for undergoing this quest.

Takes place one year before the events of my fic Earth and Sky.

Fluttershy is lonely, and across the stars, another is misunderstood. Perhaps though, this does not have to be so. With the help of one princess of night, these two souls may just find what they yearn for.
