Happy Valentines/Hearts and Hooves Day.

It's Rarity's birthday, and for the past few weeks Spike has worked tirelessly, hoping that his feelings for her finally shine through with his claw-made present.

Spike tries to write his feelings for Rarity on paper in order to better express himself before Thunderlane steals her away forever.

Spike has been rejected by Rarity after helping her for a very important client and a fashion show. He disappears shortly afterwards, leaving Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, and the rest of the gang saddened by his absence.

It has been three years since that incident, and the girls have gotten past the sadness, but still get together to remember the purple dragon every year. On this day, a new pony comes to Ponyville, and although he knows nothing of what his life was like, helps the group have more fun and fills part of the hole left in their hearts from Spike.

Idea for the fashion show goes to LordPlagus777's story Heart of Scales.

Everyone still meets with each other, just less often as their lives continue.
Spike works more often with Rarity these days.
But one day before one of Pinkie's Parties, the two go out on some errands.
However, destiny brings the two together it seems.

Spike has decided to ask Rarity to go out with him, but he doesn’t know how to behave on a date. The solution? Read Elementary Courting for Men, a book that will teach everything about proper date behavior.

But that doesn’t mean that everything he learned will work according to his plan…

If you have already watched the play you’ll know what’s going to happen, but, of course, it will have a different development and ending if you have never watched it. I recommend that you do not watch it so the plot stays “a mystery”.

As the years drew on, Spike's childish heart grew into that of a true adult, longing for the finer things in life; the finest things. He pursues his relationship with Rarity, but all does not go as planned.

Filled with anger and sorrow, Spike and Rarity fall away from one another. In his grief, Spike pursues new interests, and their friendship is in danger of never recovering.

But perhaps the truest words in life are these: you do not know what you had until you have lost it. Jealous and alone, finding no comfort in stallions she once loved, can Rarity reclaim her one chance at true love, before it is too late?

Since he first laid eyes on her, Spike has been in love with Rarity. We all know it, hay, most Equestria knows it by now. The unicorn in question has been acting as though she felt the same way, saying sweet things and acting so lovely to the baby dragon. But as years have passed, Spike's seen the big picture and doesn't want to have his emotions toyed with.

Though maybe he doesn't know the half of it.
