When Rainbow Dash announces something very important to her friends, one of them reacts in a way that she never would have foreseen. Why is that, and how will it affect their friendship?

Things couldn't possibly get any worse for Rainbow Dash. Her job is falling apart, she's convinced that she's made her friends hate her, and even her dream of some day joining the Wonderbolts is in peril. While things are looking pretty bleak for Ponyville's coolest pegasus, her best friend and kinda-sorta fillyfriend Pinkie Pie is determined to whatever it takes to help her, and she's not going to quit until she can put a smile back on Rainbow Dash's face.

This is a side-story of "The Life and Times of a Winning Pony" which occurs after the events of Chapter Ten of that story.

Despite the failure ringing in her ears, Rainbow Dash is able to move on from one of her less-successful flight forays. However, just as she overcomes her own problems, a certain pink mare gets entirely the wrong idea.

(Edit as of 02/01/12: Some slight alterations to clear up something I only very loosely hinted at first time around. And I made Soarin' sound less of an airborne blob.)

When everypony else has left one of Pinkie Pie's parties, Fluttershy makes a personal confession to the pink mare but flees before seeing her reaction. Pinkie then leaves for a week to spend time with her family on their farm outside of Ponyville. As the return of Pinkie Pie draws closer, Fluttershy becomes anxious and starts to doubt whether she made the right choice in letting out her secret.

Pinkie had decided to tell Fluttershy about her feelings, but the problem is, she doesn't how to tell it...

Fluttershy is sad being alone most of the time. She decides to hang around Pinkie Pie. With Pinkie she is encouraged to try new things. They become closer together when an accident occurs.

This story is a sequel to Introspective Rainbow

After finding the letter, Fluttershy is thrilled at having her feelings for Rainbow Dash returned. However, Rainbow Dash, unaware of Fluttershy's find, continues to struggle. Meanwhile, Fluttershy is unsure about revealing her own feelings and hopes to do this right.

I don't understand it, I don't know what to do. Anytime I try to make sense of this, I can never find an answer. All I know for sure is that I love Fluttershy more than anything.

First person with Rainbow Dash as she ponders elements of her past and present within her dilemma of trying to understand why she loves Fluttershy.

Dash comes to a point in life when she wonders what to do with her future. Even though she's somewhat happy with herself, she can't shake the feeling that there's something missing from it. And she knows exactly the thing, even though it might be hard for her to admit it...
