Princess Luna has had a...difficult life. The torment of memories such as these has resulted in a never-ending struggle to come to terms with her checkered past.

Tonight, Luna's struggle is especially difficult. Will she be able to endure the emotional onslaught of her grief and regrets? Or will she crumble under its weight, her heart torn asunder by the burden of self-condemnation?

Been stuck in a creative rut lately, so here's an on brand self-contained character vignette. Lets pull at some personality threads the film left hanging off Best New Unicorn.

Discord always has this charisma, an overwhelming sense of confidence and bravado. Every pony, whether they like it or not, knows Discord has always been known to maintain an image... including his best friend, Fluttershy. But what happens when Discord is not around, when he’s in a place where his true pain is loose? That’s what Fluttershy hopes to understand. And that night, she herself seeks her own courage to approach her friend.

Twilight woke up to experience another normal day in Equestria. Except she had this weird sense of deja vu and other abnormalities.

And to add onto the abnormalities (even though it was supposed to be another normal day in Equestria, not an abmoneral day), she and her entire reality is now being dictated by the whims of a capricious deity who, for once, isn't Discord.

For Discord, causing chaos is not a hobby or even his job. It is what he does. So when Tirek offered him an excuse to cut loose from harmony and friendship, only to be rebuffed, Discord went against his very nature. For a spirit like him, this is similar to willingly poisoning himself.

Jack Pot has dementia. He can no longer remember new conversations and events, but at least he still recognizes his son.

That would be great news... if Trixie were still her father's son.

Luna has spent untold lifetimes in the dream world with other ponies, and on a cold winter night, she settles in for another- with a colt who has just one hour to live. Luna's spent incredible amounts of time in the dream world, and while her body doesn't reflect it, she is much, much older than her "older" sister.

Hickory is a teenaged colt, an orphan, living in Canterlot. He's spent more of his life being sick than being well, and he's very familiar with "his" hospital room by now. One night, for some reason, the doctors wheeled his machines out of the room, letting him go to sleep in silence for once. The room, usually filled with the whirring of the machines, was actually quiet enough for him to dream.

And on that night, Luna happened to be drifting through the dream world...
