Cadance of Cloudsdale (so far) now in Spanish!

Thanks to the generous SPANIARD KIWI, the text of Cadance of Cloudsdale so far is now in Spanish! Mr. Kiwi has done a tremendous amount of work translating many of my stories into Spanish, but this goes above and beyond. If you're curious, you may visit the project so far here at this

    Happy Cadance Day 2024!

Things feel a bit subdued today, due to the coincidence of Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday through a quirk of the liturgical calendar. It is somewhat difficult to juxtapose the splash of corporate-encouraged love with the festival that literally exists to remind us of our mortality. The pink of Valentine's washes against the purple of Lent. So I'm in a pensive mood, more so than usual on this

    Ciderfest is a wrap!

Just got home from PVCF and it was an amazing con experience! The minific-based ARG that circulated around the con the whole weekend was high-concept, and I was worried about engagement, but everyone seemed to really get into searching out the hard-to-find stories concealed around the convention hall (in places as obscure as "the desktop wallpaper on one of the monitors in the video game room,

Okay, that's the best thing I've seen all day. Admittedly I've been awake about an hour, but still.

Berrytwist: I may be in the land of giants, but the cup is empty. I'm fine. I can handle this.
Distant Voice: Tea Time!
Berrytwist: Oh, Fizzlepop me...

Minus five points for not putting her in a teapot. Plus several thousand for the picture as it is.

Damn it, Skywriter.

This piece of rudeness was more than Twilight could bear: she got up in great disgust, and walked off; Fizzlepop fell asleep instantly, and neither of the others took the least notice of Twilight going, though she looked back once or twice, half hoping that they would call after her: the last time she saw them, they were trying to stuff Fizzlepop into the teapot…

Dang regional idiom variants! Apparently "in a teapot" is more accepted than "in a teacup" though I've always heard it the latter way...

Urge to write story...

Sounds of a pony that is disappointed at the lack of tea in her hot tub.

My favorite animation in the film is the crazy tricks she casually whips out to throw balls at the princesses. Those aren't simple angles. That's the kind of precise motion that comes from thousands of hours of practice.

Consider: Her flashback scene. After her friends left her for not being able to play catch with magic, Tempest dedicated her life to becoming the world champion of magic-free ball manipulation.

I’ve only ever heard of Storm in a teacup. Though I guess if the storm is still brewing you’d need the pot first :trollestia:

4736878
Now that makes a phrase that I recognize!

4736879
Better wordplay, less adorbs.

As some lowbrow, self-centric American, I suspect I am missing something...

Now if you can somehow bring Trixie into this... :trixieshiftright:

Took me a few seconds, but I finally got it. Goddammit, Skywriter. :rainbowlaugh:

Lmao!! Nicely done!

4736914
Nothing serious. "Tempest in a teapot" (or teacup, as I've heard it) is just an idiom for much ado made about nothing important. Plus the picture is cute.

4736924
I refuse to buy a Trixie blind bag until they produce one with a proper outfit!

4736925

*skulldesk*

I didn't even get it until I read your comment.

4736947

Pfft, we'll be lucky. We gods, how many years was it before Sweetie and Scoots got one? (Let alone poor Spike!)

As for getting Starlight, I ain't holdin' much hope.

Technically, there's a sort of egg-thingy doofer from a dispenser doohickey that has appeared at restaurants round here the past few months, and that gives a fairly passable alicorn Twilight and AJ with her blasted HAT finally and that's only taken, like, seven years...

(If it wasn't so totally random, I'd have been tempted. But I don't loot box.)

I gather there is an idiom here I haven't heard...? :applejackconfused:

4736945
That is surprisingly aproprate on so many levels.:pinkiecrazy::trollestia:

The Great and Powerful Trixie has defeated the evil Commander Tempest Shadow by turning her war skiff into, what else? A teacup!

No, but did she get a horn extension or something? <.<

I got both via normal domestic lines:
scrivnarium.files.wordpress.com/2017/11/6c0446f5-d96d-4c8d-813a-6af52474c350.jpeg
No gumball machine required! Starlight is admittedly a recolor of one of the three unicorn Twilight molds but the shifty expression elevates it. Applejack's hat comes in the Friendship is Magic collection (the cider stand playset) and is here displayed on normal V1 AJ instead of the buckin' variant included with the cider stand how is this my life

4737002

You're doin' better than me, then, since I have been unable to Internet a Starlight, despite occasional looks (as if she's come in a playset - where I got (finally! - the aforemention Spike, Sweetie, Scoots (and Best Pony Derpy...) I can't find it.)

4737057
Starlight is found in one of the latest blind bag sets, so you have to get lucky or know how to read the packet.

4737076

Trouble is, over here, blind bags are pretty erratically supplied (or, at least in my neck of the woods), so the chances of me happening across a place that happens to have them (as basically all my shopping is now internet[1]) are unfortunately pretty small. I got the majority of my ponies while I was still passing through town or from ebay or the playsets on Amazon.

Maybe they might show up on ebay at some point if it's newer 9or I may have missed that window, which would be about right for the general way things are going at the moment...)

[1]As my local Some Buses[2] want over four quid (assuming it hasn't gone up) to go into town and back (which is like, two miles or something). (The standing joke was, when I did a stint the Peak District Lead Mining Museum about an hour's bus journey twenty miles away, the cost of that trip was only slightly more than cost of the local Some Buses route into and out of town of 10% that distance.

[2]Under no circumstances could to be said to be a public transport system. And no, I don't live out in the remote wilderness, I live in a major city. It's really just THAT BAD. A couple of years ago, there were about three or four bus routes running through my area to town every quarter of an hour. Then they dropped it to one bus every half hour.

Tempest in a drinking receptacle?

Eh, it's not my cup of tea.

4737183
I saw you seeing what I did there.

Tempest Shadow Hates Tea
Seriously, a lot.

4737549
No, she loves it. That cup is *dry*.

So she's a teacup horse?

4737601
Do you know how much breeding is required to get horses this small?

4737697

"Clearly we should breed Tempest at once."
"Neigh!?!!!?"

I'd just like to point out that due to your choice of teacups you made a stealth second pun:

Tempest, who just starred in a movie, is standing on holly + wood.

4740321
Obviously I planned that too because I am so smart and also believable.

You ponies took the bull by the horns and made a mountain out of a molehill with this Tempest in a teapot. Really, the fur was flying for that snake in the grass that almost kicked the bucket. :derpytongue2:
