After Sombra's rule of both Equestria and the Crystal Empire, his Dark Magic transported the School from Land of the Lustrous near the outskirts of the Crystal Empire, which issued a threat between both Sombra's rule and the Gemstones.
Spinel, Phos, Bort, Diamond and the rest of the Gemstones now have to fight for, not for Equestria or the Crystal Empire, but their way to get back to their universe.

This is a good idea but bad execution definitely coming from the story Steeling Her Resolve and Land of Lustrous. Both stories have a darker aspects to them. You probably should have started from that. The complaint conveniences and the general characters acting out of character. On top of the idea that the diamonds would hold back on killing and unknown enemy is a little bit unbelievable. If you want it more of a happy ending you probably should have started earlier than later.

Well, I thought I should do this after the Corruption of the Crystal Empire from Sombra, which would also make it a battle between the School and the Empire itself. They were brought into their world after Sombra's Magic took over.
