I enjoy both the depiction of her being able to speak and the one where she can't.
For the instance in this story, I decided to go with the mute version since I thought it would make the story funnier with Vinyl not being able to communicate to Octavia that she is in danger and instead having to resort to funny hoof motions.
In possible future stories, I may consider using the talking Vinyl version as I do love that depiction just as much. Both depictions are great in my opinion and I think which one I'll use will be up to whatever story I feel like telling.
