Hope's Asylum. A place of Sanctuary centuries back, is nothing but a mere legend to some who have heard of it. A reminder of a time when the Pony tribes were separate, and co-mingling with others different from you was a taboo. They say it is hidden somewhere, and only fools search for it.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders, missing their sisters (and one missing their idol), decide to investigate where the Elements of Harmony have gone to themselves, despite what others in Ponyville say is dangerous and unnecessary. Little do they know, on the way to finding one town, they stumble upon another, far more unique place. Will this old refuge bring them closer to their Cutie Marks? Or will the journey bring something more to Equestria as a whole?
One thing is for certain, and adventure awaits these three fillies.

This story takes place in the same Universe as "Wonder-Colt 3" but that story is not required to understand what is going on. The events do take place at the same moments as that story, so knowing the Mane Six are away for a few months is paramount to knowing why the fillies are interested in seeking out their sisters and friend.
Also of note, this is NOT a Monster Hunter Crossover, but does feature a certain elder dragon in the pony world. I'll be changing the cover image soon as my alternative drawing is completed! (I may be planning a crossover as soon as Universe or 4 is out!)

Hello all, as the description says, this is a side-story to my first published story on Fimfiction! to be honest, I was not planning on a romance theme later in the story AT ALL! (Honest, I suck at those)
That said, as I wrote, the direction felt right, and thus this final version came out. I do feel ashamed I didn't get to explore Hope's Asylum fully, but since I plan on it being a feature theme throughout my stories, from this point on, I'll have time for it later on.
To those who follow the "Wonder-Colt 3" story, I shall be updating it tomorrow as scheduled. If you like this story, comment and rate, if you hate it, do the same! I would prefer something, rather than nothing, to be honest ;p (and thank you, to all my readers who found this story!!!)
As soon as "Wonder-Colt" is done I have a dark story planned, as well as more romances. The only thing I think I need is a pre-reader, truth be told. so many edits I had to do, and I still manage to miss a few things! I am not perfect, but I certainly do try to make the stories make sense.
Oh, if anyone is against the shipping pair I did, truth be told I am too! I just think its a puppy-love thing. Again Kirin is very naive, much like Luna, it just so happens he's a mortal partly dragon version of the Princess of the Night! =p

Just curious boss, why the use of a Kirin icon from MHP2G/U if its not a crossover? From what little I've gathered from your description is it simply because of the name of a character?

To answer your question, yes, it is not a MonHun Crossover, but the Kirin in the story is in fact similar to the Kirin that one fights in the PSP Monster Hunter games. (and I do happen to love that elder dragon, despite it being a pain when I first started the game.) That said, I prefer to have some sort of picture up with each story I write, rather than nothing. I have an artist drawing a picture of a "ponified" version that Blitzen will look like...however, he is not done with that picture yet.
I do apologize, I shall edit my description to indicate that MonHun 'Kirin' is not in this, as to not confuse people as to this story being a crossover.
BUT, just FYI: I do plan on making a "monster only" MonHun crossover with MLP sometime soon, but am waiting for more monster information from TriG. [note: what I mean by monster-only is no humans/hunters, as I find humans in Equestria...difficult...to write!] I know the Japanese release has been out for some time, but as I have not played it myself, I am waiting until late-Decemberish, when a friend from Japan is bringing his 3DS and soon-to-be released WiiU version of MonHun TriG or Universe as it is now called with him back from Japan. Should be fun, and observing the monsters in game will give me more than enough information. In the meantime, I got sent 3rd Portable from that same friend for the PSP, and thanks to the translation patch, I am going through that game now. (Beat Jinurga or whatever that electric wolf is just a few days back. Learned how much I missed dual swords, but...that's another topic!)

As for the story concept you talk about, I feel the same way about hunters as, among other things, by necessity are self inserts which makes it a tough sell, and not to mention the language barrier as I firmly believe that the global dialect of residents of Minegarde are grunts, moans, and other incoherent sounds.(+Nya for lynians)
I actually have my own ideas for story ideas involving the appearance of MH monsters in Equestria mainly as self-contained miniature stories. Just never got around to writing the damn things down. If you want to, lets bounce ideas between us on what we have maybe it can help us both.

Indeed, on my earliest drafts, the hunters were all based on the hunters I made (thus my user name here 'Haphinea', my hunter name since the PSP, to the Wii, and back to the PSP again!), and my brothers. The problem was, our hunters had no personality, other than how we ourselves played, thus, ended up removing the hunters, and the stories came along ok, until I hit a wall. Still have that draft, but unsure what to do with it now.
My most recent idea was a compromise; have the lynians, with their own motivations, come to Equestria following the monsters, protecting the towns and trading, in exchange for services, bits, etc. I also had a theory, because the Elder dragons like Lao-Shan, Jhen Moran, and Ceadeus would be rather tough to fight even with dozens of ponies, that they may leave them to their own territories, and instead, route them away from towns. I also would love to see how the monsters would interact with the 'monsters' of Equestria! Hypnocatrice vs. Cockatrice, Dragons vs Rathian and Rathalos mated pairs, etc. Either way, would be interesting, it all depends.

I am planning a separate series of stories sometime soon, Following lil Blitzen to his eventual visit to Ponyville, and new ponies for him to meet and learn from there! Hopefully, it turns out great, and will even out my future "Dark" Story I plan on starting soon.
