Earth Ponies in the Celestia Guard aren't always given much credit. Sure, they cannot fly, or use magic to attack, but they do fight well, and are unmatched in terms of natural strength. Wonder-Colt was one such recruit who wanted to show his fellow guards that Earth Ponies meant business: By volunteering for a dangerous mission!
It has been month since he has been heard from by anyone and a new village has appeared in Equestria, but whoever goes into the town, never comes out. The Element bearers are sent to try and free the ponies in this village, but go missing as well.
What happened to these ponies?
What will become of the Elements of Harmony?
Can an Earth Pony really use magic?
Based heavily off of the Sega Master System game, Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap, this is a retelling of the game where a simple guard helps free those ponies who are missing, and show that even Earth Ponies with silly names, can be heroes too!
This is intended to be a light-hearted pony-fied version of the game, with a small bit of references to the games in the series as possible. It is meant to be read by Pony fans, fans of the old games, and anyone who likes adventure games. Please feel free to write and review.
Not my first fiction, but certainly my first MLP-focused story! =)
Forgot to put up this note during the 502s: I am very much looking for pre-readers/editors if anyone is interested. This story is nearly done in terms of writing, however, I tend to write a lot more before submitting chapters depending on how I judge the flow once it is up here, and not on my Wordpad...
I am also hoping to have a few jokes played at the expense of the game itself, some based off of little difference between the Master System and Turbo Graphix16 version (there are some palette changes, and for some reason, story changes at the end).
Until then and before the next update, I shall try and come up with a clever ponyfied version of the game cover...Lord knows I am not the best artist, but hell, I shall try.

Quick comment, and news about the story development so far:
This chapter went much shorter than I thought it would be, and as a result I went to check of the master copy I have on my computer, and it struck me plain as day...I seem to have been rushing through the beginning of the story to get to the characters and their interactions!
As a result, I am going through, and fixing these obvious pacing issues on future chapters. Honestly, the beginning of the game is sort of what this story describes, minus actually talking to the pig. I fully acknowledge I was eager to write and explore how the equivalent of the main character would interact with the main Six, but not having equal focus on the crossover aspect! This shall be fixed, and rest assured, I shall strive to keep a good balance.
That said, our town's internet system as of late has been even more weird than the bad 502s I usually see, and as a result of my and many others complaints, the company is checking out the system, but I'll be without high-speed internet for the time being until the issues are fixed. I shall gladly check the site via a phone or when the internet does peak up on my PC.
Other news: I placed a place-holder title image for this story today. I hated having nothing for the story, but honestly am having trouble drawing a ponyfied version of the actual game box (which is below for reference):

I can draw the boxart ok, I have the "Pega Magic System", and font all good, the enemies from the game alright...but dang it all, I CANNOT DRAW PONIES! I am thinking I should come up with another scene all together, thus the idea of what the place-holder shows...and action sequence from in-game assets. Which would mean no ponies, but other creature that Wonder will eventually turn into (I shall withhold those for now, as some are going to be changed from the actual game, to pony equivalents).
Anyway long commentary on things, but I feel to those few who have read this, (and I thank each of you!) deserve to know it. By next chapter, I'll be posting some new art up in that chapter's commentary, as well as some Fimfiction groups to get their view on which cover I should stick with ultimately.
Oh, and I leave you with today's fun fact I learned: The emulator 'Meka', which is generally used as a Game Gear/Master system player on many computers and other devices, was named after the first dragon from the game this story is based on! For some reason, I never realized that myself...but anyway, the programmers are big fans, and I do love the art they found for the game on the site.

A bit late on this chapter, I must apologize. I find the 2,000 to 3,000 words per chapter seems to be the sweet spot in terms of the pacing from the story. There may be some exceptions, but I am happy how this longer format has turned out. Maybe I'll post the next chapter later, should my brother look over it. =) Enjoy all, and criticism and praises are always welcomed!
I must apologize for the delay...I fully blame myself, and the drive to finish and complete the new areas in the Dark Souls PC-release. (I shall be blogging about this later.)
I made a few little references in this chapter to a few fan-art of Applejack and Sea-ponies, as well as a brief beginning prologue to the beginning of the game prior to Dragon's Trap. (I always found it strange the a hero like Wonder-Colt, or in the game's case, Wonder-boy, would start the game WITH NO ARMOR OR WEAPON!)
I am sort of going by the 'speed run' version of the game. I'll be including a few secrets, obviously, but the story is more about the ponies, and there interaction with the world, rather than the world and game itself. As much as I love the game, this is a MLP fan fiction!
I hope I wasn't too "Dark" on the whole Kelpie back story. I simply meant it as a reason to explain a bit on how Wonder knows about the legends of the Sea-ponies. Well, outside of the legends and myth there may be in Equestria. I did base a little on old generation depiction of the creatures, but it has been a while since I have watch them.
Anyway, comment, critique...and if you like Dark Souls, meet me in my blog! I'll be posting a little on that too.
This is the part of the game where things get interesting, and soon, get extremely hard. In the next chapters, I hope to reflect this as well. I don't think I wrote Pinkie ok, but I hope it was at least adequate.

Ahh yes, DRAMA, For some reason, beside being sick and all, this was one of the best chapters to write, as the story flowed with the conflict, love-teasing of my own characters, and all that stuff made it so much fun! Originally, I didn't want Zed to rhyme at all, but I figured some people would want a Zebra/Pony-cross to rhyme a little, so I made him bad at it (much like myself!)
Alot of world-building and no action, I know. No worries, the sea dragon fight will come, and come on Tuesday! I'll also be doing an extra chapter this next week too. as I am finishing the writing a lot faster, and my pre-reader seems to be finishing more more quickly than before!

Yay! Back on schedule! For now on, Tuesday is the best day to update! I am planning very soon to write my first follow-up story to this. It won't be involving the Mane-six, but the CMCs, and a certain, former pony-eating creature I have been mentioning. So, was I foreshadowing this entire time? No, I couldn't be doing that =p
That said, it'll be posted probably once Rarity is rescued, as the final form of Wonder will be revealed, and then, his last mission will be the last dragon, that hold our favorite student of the Magic of Friendship! I shan't spoil beyond that basic set-up. There will be a few addendums and an Epilogue as well.
Like I said in my last update, I plan on posting the next chapter this Thrusday, so two days from...now-ish..=p This will be a bit of a 'smooth-over' chapter, calming some emotional drama-bombs, and starting the rescue of Rarity. But no worries, I plan on making the actual fighting of the next dragon a focus. This Dragon, in game wasn't too bad, but getting to him...UGH! I hate it!
That said, I also plan on having the other girls helping now too, Pinkie with her "game knowledge" and Rainbow competing with AJ on who can beat the most enemies. Any suggestions please feel free to write below, PM me, or whatever!

The drama is over! At least for now. The truth, is all out but, it remains to be seen of what was said between Pinkie and Wonder, under the sands of the desert. Without giving much away, it is hopefully a foreshadowing of what drives Pinkie in my next series. BUT...that'll have to wait!
