Some people have been able to get the upper hand on him in a fight. He mostly went to bars after returning home from the Dragovanese War of Independence, which meant he wasn’t fully in his right mind, as he had and still has a lot of trauma for it. Also, there are only a few people who he considers his equal in combat, one of them being his cousin who lived in the Central Equestrian Mountains.

In my personal “universe” or something, I view Canterlot as a very rough city, with quite a bit of crime. The Dancing Star is owned by a rich piece of scum who invites other pieces of scum to his club. Said pieces of scum are people who enjoy fights, many of them being criminals and/or gang members.

School starts in a few days for me. I have a hard time trying to type in Docs on my phone, which is why I’m waiting to get my hands on a computer. When school starts, I’ll be issued my school computer, then I’ll be able to work on the next chapter. I’ve been coming up with so many ideas for it, it’s kind of been driving me insane. Once I get a computer, I’ll work on the chapter, edit it, and post it.

There are two reasons why Rarity is behind this. The one that actually has to do with the story is her first surname, “Avellino.”
The other reason is because of a certain trope. You know, the cliche of Rainbow Dash being the one to set up an attack on Sunset, most often in the school gym. I figured that Rarity might make more sense. She would most likely have quite a few connections to people, which could give her the resources needed to do something like this. Well, she obviously has connections, given her “Avellino” surname. Plus, I can see Rarity being involved with a bunch of well-off, “classy” Italian businessmen who “happen to also run a crime syndicate.”
