And all your friends will be there with smiles on their faces.

T

Equestriel burns with the fires of Oblivion, and only the Amulet of Queens can save the realm from destruction. But the Amulet is now borne by a paupered immigrant, a half-breed blankflank, an outcast, a former cultist... a loser. Of all possible heroines who might save the world, she is the least likely to amount to anything.
One thing counts in her favor—she's about to learn that Friendship is Magic. And that may help her to discover a strange destiny unknown even to the Nine Divines.

This story is a crossover with the Elder Scrolls series of video games, and a webcomic based thereupon called Prequel, and thereby contains many spoilers. The links below may help if you're not familiar with either of these works and still want to follow this story:

Dark and comedy?

:rainbowhuh:

Wait. so this is a Fanfic, of a crossover, of a spin spin off, of a majorly successful internet... comic/animation/music/thing?

I shall keep a close watch on this one. :rainbowkiss:

Yes, dark and comedy. The first few chapters will be mostly dark, though.

Wait until you see the movie that gets based on the novelization of the TV miniseries of the MMORPG.

The worlds of Tamriel and Equestria have been roughly smooshed together in this work / travesty. Some elements of both have been deleted, defenestrated, julienned, corrupted, gutted, warped out of recognition, or incongruously left intact. I make no attempt to apologize for any of this; I only hope that it will prove to be an interesting ride for those who choose to follow it.

This is quite good. The stigma surrounding carnivorousness was a clever touch. I'm interested to see where this goes.

Do you still have plans to add to your "Eleventeen Pieces" story? I'd love to see some more of that, as well.

1087774

Thank you for the compliment!

Princess Equestria is having trouble mooning and keeps trying to do other stuff instead, but I do plan to continue the story soon.

1089114 Okay, just a single thing about this that bugs me: if the main character is supposed to be their equivalent of a Khajiit, does that mean that she's from their version of Elsweyr or Hammerfell, or were her parents somehow some sort of cross-breed of a Redguard and a Khajiit?:derpyderp1:

1089495

According to Prequel canon, Katia comes from Hammerfell, home of the Redguards. Her ancestors presumably at some point moved to Hammerfell from Elsweyr.

According to Elder Scrolls canon, humanoid Khajiit do not come from interbreeding with humans, which is considered impossible. A Khajiit's shape (from housecat to tiger to bipedal humanoid) depends on the configuration of the moons on the date when the Khajiit is born and has little to do with genetics. This does not explain why Morrowind Khajiit all look the same and nothing like Cyrodiil (Oblivion) Khajiit, who all look the same and nothing like Skyrim Khajiit, but it's all I have to work with. (Perhaps only the humanoid ones ever leave Elsweyr, and if you're born quadrupedal in another country they ship you home quickly in a big crate so no-one sees you.)

I do describe the Khageeti as "cat/pony crossbreeds" which indicates that at first I conceived of them as the actual results of cat/pony miscegenation, but I think that I'll have to rewrite that part. My current concept is that 'ponyoid' is the default shape for sentient beings in this story, just as 'humanoid' is the default shape in the Elder Scrolls universe. (However, a being such as Akatosh in dragon form would appear as a dragon and not a ponyoid dragon, since dragons already exist in Equestria.)

If this seems confusing at all, I agree, and I must ascribe it to both the state of the source material (which is often more oriented towards gameplay or storytelling than consistency) and to my ham-fisted attempts to mash things together in some semi-coherent manner.

TL/DR: Games don't always make sense; please don't expect this story to always make sense, either. :twilightsheepish:

definitely got my interest, and im curious to see how she progresses from talent-less individual to hero

if your following the story in the game will you be added the expansions aswell? (Shivering Isles and knights of the Nine)

1089984

Thank you!

I am still working out how much of the game story (including quests and expansions) to include. I will probably have to decide much of this on the fly, depending on my sense of what events would be particularly amusing or interesting from Katia's POV, and also on what fragments of the Oblivion story remain intact after it's been passed through the wringer of MLP. I'm not sure about Knights of the Nine, but Shivering Isles should definitely make an appearance.

1089855Huh... well that clears things up. Thanks! :twilightsheepish:

1090458 Yes to the Shivering Isles. Just... yes. :yay::yay::pinkiehappy::pinkiecrazy:

I'm sorry for the long wait and short update. I'm likely to be busy with some other projects for a bit and wanted to share what was ready to go.

It is taking Katia a bit of time to work through the tutorial dungeon, but it's appropriate at this point to show how she's maturing as an adventurer and a person. The pace will pick up quite a bit once she reaches the outside world. [Oooh, spoiler!]

Interesting concept, and written pretty well. It's entertaining me, so far, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the story.

Thank you!

Updates will continue to be sporadic for a while; please bear with me.

Lol, poor Katia... :rainbowlaugh:

>Mages didn't belong in wells. She'd already sworn that she'd never enter another one.
Just wait until she gets to Cheydinhal:trollestia:

This is as far as I got in Oblivion so now I have no idea what to expect. But I'm really enjoying it so far. :pinkiehappy:

Baurus swiftly took hold of Katia's shoulder

Whoops!:trollestia:

Great story. I'm really sad to see Celestia die, but it can't be helped to follow this storyline. :fluttercry: I can't wait to read more.

1400202
Man, that's as far as you got? I had mods to skip all this so I could get to the good stuff. :P

I didn't expect it to take this long to get through the starting dungeon, but here we are! And since neither the time available in my life, nor the patience of my readers, permit the construction of a complete game walkthrough, I'll be compressing things quite a bit from now on.

1400202
Thank you!
As to what to expect, Oblivion is a pretty freeform game. The main quest (in which you save the world from imminent destruction) can be postponed indefinitely while you noodle around the landscape picking flowers. To keep things interesting, I will likely be taking great liberties with the various questlines, either knocking big chunks out of them, ignoring them completely, or taking them out of order.

1401430
Are you suggesting that ponies don't have shoulders?
Seriously, typo corrected. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

1401444
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it.
For anyone who may want to start the game as Katia does in Prequel, this mod lets you start as a pauper on the docks at Anvil (among other options). Kvatch will still be ruined unless you use a mod to correct that, but since I haven't tried it myself, I can offer no further advice there. (Kvatch Rebuilt might work, but as its name says, it's meant to show Kvatch being rebuilt over time, and not to present it as it was originally.)

She smushed a nirnroot? Or is it an equusroot?

1481047
Yep. Sinderion's gonna be spinning in his basement.

Also in the sky were both moons, Masser and Secunda, their divergent crescents making the heavens look rather walleyed.

Wait, so how does Luna fit into things here?

>theoactive materials
:rainbowlaugh:

They'd probably build an entirely new kind of dungeon cell to put her in forever.

But only after annexing some new territory to banish her to, of course.:trollestia:

1482033 :rainbowlaugh: Oh, that one really made me laugh

1482993
I prefer to reveal more about Luna in the course of the story, but I'll say here that if Celestia is considered to be the Chosen of Akatosh, then Luna should be considered the Chosen of Lorkhan. Since Lorkhan is the Missing God, it's a harder role to play...

1482993
1483119
I strive to please.

1483645
Princess Not-Appearing-In-This-Story?:trollestia:

But wait, if that makes Luna the Chosen of Lorkhan, then Celestia would have to be the Chosen of Magnus, but then that breaks the Oblivion half of the story and gah I suppose that's just the price you have to pay when you're trying to reconcile two different mythologies like this.

...Aaaand now I've ended up conflating Nightmare Moon and Dagoth Ur in my head.:pinkiecrazy::rainbowhuh::twilightoops:

1483765
Yeah, I think in this story we're going to stick with Magnus as God of Magic (and therefore Friendship?) and not as God of Punching a Hole in the Sky with His Face.:rainbowderp:

1483765
>now I've ended up conflating Nightmare Moon and Dagoth Ur in my head
Dang, I think I can actually make this work:twilightoops::pinkiecrazy:
So, the seaponies mysteriously disappear after their tidal architects' experiments with Lorkhan's Diadem go a little too far. They leave behind enough clues for Celestia and Luna to tap into its power safely, but guided by the Virtues of the Elements of Harmony, they vow not to. When Discord invades, they are forced to break that vow; they banish him back to his Shivering Isles and imprison him there. All goes well for a while, but eventually the power goes to Luna's head, and she becomes insanely jealous and turns on Celestia. Celestia fights back, but Luna's moon-magic resonates with the Diadem, and Celestia is only able to confine Luna to Everfree Mountain, within the Moonfence. Celestia eventually realizes she and Luna are being punished by the Elements for breaking their vow; growing weaker, she sends her student out to recruit ponies who embody the Virtues, restore the vow, and destroy the Diadem
Throw something in there about the three Great Horses, and you're good to go.

Your Lore-Fu speaks for itself. :rainbowdetermined2:

Update will be delayed - It looks like I'm going to be in a consuming rather than a creating mood for a while. Not sure how long it will last, but I'll keep you posted.

Good job so far. I will be watching.

Holy shit. I can't believe I found this. Though it appears it might be a dead story. Sadly fitting, though supposedly a proper prequel update is coming.

Now the question becomes, is this just you forcing Katia into the role based on the changes converting to equestria made happen, or are you too convinced that the original is a direct prequel to oblivion, as opposed to indirect.
