This was a super great chapter and I had a ton of fun reading it. I totally agree that you remaking the princesses in such a way made them SOOO much more fun to read and watch. It really gave Cadence a personality and something to make her feel like a character. It also made sense how Twilight came out the way she did now. Cadence is a fangirl and a geek clearly and so her Shinning if that part of him stayed the same. So of course the two people who influenced Twilight the most would encourage her geeky nerdy sides.
The one thing or biggest thing I would love to see addressed in this with all the Cadence stuff.... is her strange and kinda.... alright clearly fascist mindset on her powers. I was thrown back by her views on love and how she would want it. She wants it done her way, she feels that unless it is a pairing made by her no love seems to hold much weight. She said it herself if her, or anyone with love powers, feel that a pairing is wrong or not perfect they should end it. That everyone should go along with what she wants and be her dolls to match as she sees fit. This is something she wants to do for EVERYONE by mandate. No free will or choice, she says what it is and she makes it happen. She is like a toxic fandom all her own that says what ships SHOULD be only she has the power to force it to happen. And we know if she had her way she would do this to everyone around the world.
Cadence doesn't seem to get or doesn't want to get... that love isn't a straight path. That making people be with their 'chosen one' against their will takes away the freedom and alot of the magic of love. And it undermines other love. Even in her example.... she doesn't view the love of the Stallion and his wife with as much value as the Stallion and the colt. She just sees the wife, his children, his life as things to work around to get her perfect little pairing. This mindset will lead to SOO many bad things down the road. And what if someone being with their destined one is toxic or bad for the party involved. Like once they are together they do not want to do anything other than being with each other. And I mean they don't want ANYTHING other than each other leading to their lives falling apart. This mindset of Cadence can be very damaging and dangerous to others. But this reminds me of the best things of how you write the princesses.... they are like the Greek Gods. They are like people but with ungodly power, but also have all the flaws of people if not even more, They do not understand normal folks, they are so jaded by this point that basic things seem to be missed by them and they see their wills as right above all else.
Just to be clear I do not hate Cadence in this AT ALL. This is the most interesting I have seen her and that is great. And her having this strange fascist mindset is a curious trait for her. Something I can see someone who views loves in a totally different way would develop. But I just think seeing the flaws of this and having someone maybe call her out on it or show it happening or has happen a number of times would be interesting. She doesn't have to change her ways, hell if she did see the flaw in her plan and just shrugged it off happy to get the pairing she wants would make her VERY Greek Godlike lol.
Gotta say, I LOVE this version of Cadence!

That Greek God comparison is surprisingly fitting for what I have planned. You're entirely right about the alicorn mindset being disconnected from regular views. Although, in her defense, she's a relatively young alicorn who's still ironing out the kinks in her tactics and philosophy. She views herself as the embodiment of her element, so it's understandable that she'd develop such a mindset, as you said. There'll be mistakes along the way, but I'd like to think she'll get better. Although, your idea of having someone call her out could be interesting. Her goal is to create lasting and healthy relationships, but a pairing that obsesses over each other to the detriment of all else is counter to that goal. So, maybe she makes a failed pairing and has to undo it, forcing her to rethink her strategy and what constitutes compatibility.
Honestly, this was heavily inspired by several stories about the alicorns, all giving them this authoritarian mindset that they know best just because they have the power. It seems to be a common theme among the fandom to turn the princesses into secret tyrants. Other writers have done a gentler version of Cadence doing roughly the same thing, but as I said, she's still figuring things out.

Me too. It's so much fun to give a personality to what was essentially a blank slate.

Trust me I believe you and I can honestly see this being the reason why Molestia doesn't want to put her thing into practice because she knows while they are powerful they are not the full on authority of their powers more like avatars or a spokeperson for them. It was just this reminded me of a show on Netflix I watched where there was a service that had a 100% rate of pairing someone with their soulmate but it showed through some of the stories that not always being a good thing and sometimes it can turn very sour. Anyway still another great chapter and I can't wait for the next one

That issue works if it's the focus of the story, but that's just a background detail for what's basically a background character, so it probably won't be explored too much here. Also, everyone in this world is an amoral pervert, so their ideas of good and poor matches are drastically different from ours.
Anyway, it's always good to hear my readers enjoy my work, and it's good to hear from you in particular. Thanks.
