Great chapter once more and I did love to see that other side of Rarity. The side that honestly made me fall in love with her and have her become my favorite pony character. That cute nervous and slightly shy manner of hers that comes with her work. As someone that does art I get her feeling and that rally endears her to me. I also love that one one one Spike is the still the best one at dealing with her. He can get through the bullshit and connect with her in a way honestly the other girls really can't relate to. It could be because he is so artistic himself with his cooking and music that he can understand her feelings. That could be a interesting story thing for Spike as well, seeing him maybe do more with his music seeing how we seen in the show he can play the most musical instruments as well as sing.
The thing tho that REALLY stood out to me was something with Twilight. I feel we got hints at something that could be a MAJOR character trait for her we can see addressed and worked on from her. Once more this comes from her interaction with Trixie. The way Twilight was dismissive of Trixie and her talents calling her weak shows a clear issue with Twilight. She is a elitist at her very core. She has a massive mana pool and she has been praised and pampered since she was young. She was put in the 'gifted' school because of it and was around those who were seen as 'special' and to top it off she was chosen by Molestia herself. Twilight has grown up her whole life being told that if you aren't like her you are lesser. So now she sees any Unicorn who doesn't have magic pools like hers as weaker. Even tho we JUST saw Trixie can do magic that she can't do even with her smaller mana pool. This could be a core issue with the kingdom itself. It is clear that Molestia favors unicorns, I mean who else has a special school JUST for them. That their ruler gets to come and pick students from. Why is it that almost all the nobles and upper crust are all Unicorns while the other ponies have all the physical jobs. How come other species or even races of ponies aren't holding any position of powers or high standing? I know I am looking hard at a kids show but this story has been great at touching things deeper than the original show did and this I feel is a wonderful thing that could be touched on.
That's an interesting perspective on Spike, and I'll have to consider it in later chapters.
As for Twilight and Trixie, that'll be addressed in the next episode. Perhaps not to the extent you're hoping, but Twilight will be called out for her treatment and begin making genuine efforts to change. Also, regarding why there aren't more non-ponies in positions of power, that's called majority privilege. It's the same reason the majority of politicians, celebrities, wealthy, and influential people in Nigeria are almost all Nigerian.
Anyway, always great to hear from you, and I look forward to your reactions in the next installment.
