I wanted to make a new character for the story. So I thought about using the captain that found Riolu's egg in the beginning of chapter 1. I'm not sure if Shinning is a captain or not in season 1 but hey if he is I don't see why the Royal Guards would just have one captain. Heck, maybe Shinning can the one that takes over his job. XD

Well, I more like to think that Royal Gurad is a small royal army that sattle in Canterlot. So It's not huge group until it need more than one captain to take care. And I think somepony will take over his captain of Royal Guard in the end of season 2. (He become prince after marry Cadence...). So if Shining Armor not being Captain yet...I don't know when he should be...

I liked this chapter and your writing style. It flows well and the story os fun to read. I also agree with Ruff Wind, Spike and Riolu would be a cute pairing.
Interesting story. It's quite likeable with the plot you have here and your writing style is easy to keep the story flowing. Although it could use more detail among some of the paragraphs. But nonetheless I like it. Keep up the good work.

For the story, I will have him evolve but it will be near the end. Riolu is my favourite Pokemon with Lucario coming next. So I wanna have him as a Riolu throughout most, if not all of the story.
Celestia, why are you TRYING to ship spike with riolu it feels Way too forced for my taste but will countiue anyway.

Could've just made Celestia distinguish Riolu's gender by the tone of his barks or a spell.
Otherwise the story is going good so far for me.
I find it funny that a Pokemon is playing what I believe is Yu-gi-oh

Sadly not too sure. I want to continue it but I just can't seem to want to get in the mood to write. Maybe one day I'll get back to it, or confirm cancelled and start a new story. I don't know. But for my first story on the site, I'm happy how it went and that a lot of people actually enjoyed what I wrote.
