I didn’t even reach chapter 5. That was 3. I was lost from the start, even knowing there was some memory wizardry going on. Still, I pushed on hoping for some clarification. I have an idea of what your doing but...its foggy. And I feel like I’m being attacked with information.

Part of the problem is the distance between updates. There's currently a Lot going on in a short period of in-story time, but the distance between updates and brevity of the chapters make it harder to follow since it's almost being drip-fed to us, making it difficult to get an idea of the larger picture.
Chapter 4 is the first point where the scattered pieces in chapters 1-3 start to come together, and 5 brings more together while adding more questions hanging. I think I have an idea of what's going on, but I'll be keeping it to myself for now, partly because I could still be wrong and partly because typing out long speculation posts on my phone during my lunch break is a pain.
Slice of life is good. It helps world-build and keeps the pace of a story going between major scenes. In my last comment I pointed out that there's a lot going on currently in this story in a short period of in-story time, so I wouldn't necessarily consider this chapter to be Slice of Life, but it's definitely world building, which is good for tieing the scattered plot threads you're laying down together.
