Read through the story. So, the hive feeds on lust rather than actual love. All the souls were corrupted, turned into primal machines, feeding the hive endlessly.
Interesting how Changelings actually work though. I do indeed want to research them now, perhaps even write my own story...hmm.

well got writer's license (the right to make the least sense as suspension of disbelief can allow) to make hentai logic work... and since its in the land of fantasy.
one can always use the other logic. the infallible "a wizard did it". there changelings are so sexy to everypony because they have a natural "charm" enchantment on them.

877133 I think the Changelings would function more on deception until their Queen got to the victims. Using their transformed forms to...ahem, 'harvest' their victims, possibly lure them back to the hive, THEN the massive fuck-everyone-till-you-can't-move-anymore party can start. But yes, Changelings decieve, it's why they can change shape. Wizards have no place in this story :V.

they control (or rather have a significant degree of control) everything in equestria. so they have a huge spy network, easily manipulating ponies to do whatever they want.
for example, the mare in the story is let go. its heavily implied that she would leave, gather an army to charge at the hive (with difficulty), only to be brought into mass submission. the alternative is that she lives a quiet life, constantly observed while she births another half breed. it truly depends on how strong the reader sees the character.
it also shows that they ruin lives by manipulating events and making changelings the cure to all their problems. In these cases ponies flock to the hive in a steady trickle.
the changeling queen coordinates it all with the merest thought.all the while breeding to increase their number with highborns that birth drones.
