If a Slenderman falls in the forest, does anyone care?

Season 6 Spoilers!

Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship. More like Princess of Not-Friendship, right? Following her latest friendship with Trixie, Starlight Glimmer confronts Twilight about friends, and how it seems like Twilight doesn't actually have many of them.

Oh dear, Starlight is kind of correct. The girls are pretty friendless without each other.

This was a nice read. Though, I'm a little antsy now realizing that I have basically only two friends, one being my twin sister and the other being a girl I met a couple of months ago. :twilightoops:

Makes sense to me

“My friend is…my friend is…”

Stop ripping off Eminem, Twi.

“No, you’re right!” Twilight blubbered. “You’re better at making friend than I am! You make an entire village follow your orders, and you made friends with a pony who was ready to kill herself to prove she was friends with you! I’m a fraud! You should be the Princess of Friendship, not me!”

Twilight wouldn't say that. Those were slaves, not friends. I'd say Twilight's acquaintances that Starlight casually dismissed were far more the alicorn's friends then Glimmer's villagers were hers. Saying that Trixie was trying to commit suicide was just pure speculation.

The most stupid thing though, was thinking that Twilight would believe that a sociopathic pony who came within a hair's breadth of ending the world, and killing every other pony in it in the process was more worthy of becoming Princess Of Friendship than her. Nope, nope, nope.

PS: Why did you put a soup spoon on the table when there wasn’t any soup?

Maybe it was the second course? :moustache:

I had to scroll up and check to make sure this was tagged as a Comedy, because it wasn't very funny. I'm presuming the humor was meant to come from seeing Twilight's increasing desperation to prove she has friends, but it didn't. Because the fic seems to run on a very limited and specific definition of friendship, which is something not easily defined. I know people I haven't directly spoken to in months, but I am content to call them friends and think they would say the same.

The close as blood relatives type of friendship the Mane Six have with each other is something rare and precious, which not everyone may even experience. It's a deeper level of friendship than that guy you know from school and occasionally you like each others Facebook post, or the store clerk you chat with when you go shopping sometimes, but it doesn't mean those relationships don't count as friendships.

To be honest, if this was meant to be a comedy, it didn't work because of how thin the argument for the premise is and the non-presence of any actual jokes.

Also.

“You’re better at making friend than I am! You make an entire village follow your orders, and you made friends with a pony who was ready to kill herself to prove she was friends with you! I’m a fraud! You should be the Princess of Friendship, not me!”

Even meant as a joke, :facehoof:

7174992 It was supposed to be a comedy? Checks tag. Oops

. The only part I thought that was meant to be funny was the end note, and even that wasn't particularly hilarious. Oh, well. Let's just call this story a rush job after the episode aired, and leave it at that...

Hm. Good points on people regarding this as not-comedy. I guess I thought it was a kind of dark comedy or sad comedy, but then again looking at it once it's done, it's also not. Tags updated!

That's not true, Twilight has Lyra Heartstrings. Not wait, Lyra was one of the friends she made in school. Twilight never bothered to going looking for her after Amending the fences, when she was told Lyra lives in ponyville now. Wow Twilight really doesn't have close friends but the main 6.

I am putting this in my comady folder only for that ending :D

7174898 Not to mention they're pretty bad friends to each other a lot of the time. Particularly Twilight.

7175383 before Twilight the only ones that seemed to have any friends were Rarity with Fluttershy and Fluttershy with Rainbow Dash. And RD and Rarity didn't mix. They just shared a friend in common.

I actually read that as her being bitter and sarcastic. Not sincere, but rather hitting Starlight with a rather low blow, because obviously if Starlight's so much better than Twilight, the former should be princess. It was pretty rude on Twi's part, and I really expected Starlight to respond with a very hurt comment about how that was a horrible thing to make light of.

But this was a nice story. Very cathartic and emotional. Though I did cringe at the credit part, the jokes there felt very much at Twi's expense (and sadly like something the show would do), and the Magic Kindergarten joke threw me off as a bit too harsh (though I loved how Celestia befriended those three and gave them official jobs. Favoritism is alive and well in Equestria's monarchy, and I for one can't wait for the bass to drop before a hoofball game).

"I think you broke my jaw."

Poor Twily. No wonder she uses shield magic all the time. She's as fragile as a leaf.

“I—I’m a strong, independent Princess. Who doesn’t need other friends! I have five friends. Five friends who happen to be connected to me through magic and fate.” " That's true.

Doesn't Applejack have a close friend?

$#%. Missed one. But you could also argue that Rara is another friend she only had as a filly and fell out of touch with. Even if they meet up as adults, there's still a huge gap in their relationship. Plus, unless Rara reappears (which I'm hoping for), they're still not close-close. But Applejack does seem the most stable in terms of relationships.

I was in it... then you pulled me out of it with Celestia's OOC note.:facehoof:
