Midnight Shine is your average, run - of - the - mill unicorn filly, sporting a love for video games and a blank flank. She is the last one in her class not to have figured out her special talent yet, and the only thing she seems to be good at is watching a fellow unicorn named PewDiePie on YouTube. What will happen when Pewds suddenly stops making videos? Is he in trouble? How will this young filly earn her cutie mark, and what risks will she have to take to do it?

Not really that bad so far
Although, most people aren't big fans of OCs being friends with main characters (or Mane) so you might not got much positivite feedback with Midnight being a friend of Twilight's (espically being one of Twilight's favorite fillies) really or the Painthoof having Rainbow Dash train her. Also, the Rainboom is hard and was even considered a legend when Rainbow Dash was a filly, not just about any pony can be capable of doing such so it would take much effort to pull such performances off, not matter how much you train. Rainbow Dash was only able to do it 3 times in the series so far (when she was a filly proving it was real, in the episode Sonic Rainboom, and in a CantelotRoyal Wedding part 2) And she doubt she would do it again in the episode Sonic Rainboom so it has been years since she last did it as a filly since Lauren Fuast confirmed the Mane Six to be
"Kid-like adults". And we seen she struggle with it.
You might get some negative feedback for having a OC easily pull it off and even Nick-naming it a Paintboom.
Also, not to be rude but there are thousands of OCs with the name Midnight Shine and Painthoof. I'm not saying you should change them; keep those names if you want but thousands of OCs have such names so some readers might not think of you as creative with naming OCs.
But other those problems, the story is decent and fine but you could be a bit more descriptive and the story seems mainly of certain character's dialogue.
But once again, not bad but could some work.

Mostly what FrostWindsPaw said. To add more, most of my issues were plot points, such as her relationship with Twilight and Painthoof's relationship with Rainbow Dash. It seems rushed that there's little explanation as to why she's so close to Twilight that I hope gets fleshed out in later chapters. Same goes with Painthoof. The paintboom thing should have been given more time before being shown in the story, like maybe introducing painthoof's character training and trying to perform the move flows a lot better than that being literally the first thing we see from her. A major problem with those two things is that it make your characters seem like mary-sues, which is generally frowned upon from just about anyone.
I'll be honest though, this is a lot better written than I was expecting from the premise. I'll definitely follow this story and try to help you. That is, if you want me to.
