overall not too bad. albeit one would presume that starswhirl the bearded could easily overpower a few ponies and a larval chrysalis.
also he would probably be able to detect mind alteratoins too. you don't get that much of a reputation without actually having the power to back it up.
also i have a hard time imagining that the pegasi could enslave the earth ponies. in comparison, the earth ponies have the advatange in warfare. true they cannot fly nor use arcane, but they are near superhumanly strong, have stamina that allows them to fight for days upon days, and endure far greater damage than any other equine, and can cause food to grow nomatter where it is.
in other words, the pegasi would be hard pressed to overpower them.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I will write more to address Starswirl's powers. I don't know if I agree with earth ponies being as powerful as you suggest, but I will definitely think about that more.
I think you just gave me ideas for a couple more chapters!
3846482 well they had to have something of an advantage. besides we have seen in the show itself that earth ponies have considerable physical prowess. they are definitely called earth ponies because of some other reason than simply walking on the ground
unicorns would probably have a bit more of an advantage over them as they can keep a distance. pegasi probably have a few advantages against unicorns, as in full on combat pegasi are probably harder to hit. and earth ponies are opponnents that rarely attacked without consequence, and the pegasi's lack of long distance attack would mean they would have to get close.

..............actaully doesn't the show display that hwile it can be molded a memory is easy to restore?
best i can think is that hwole true self thing. during mmc twilight stresed that the true self being altered was far beyond anything her magic could help. shurgs. maybe starswhirl learns that later on
