(Teen for language and innuendo) Battle of the Bands. An annual event at Canterlot High, students form their own rock bands to compete, and the winning band is given the King/Queen of the Bands accolade, which is represented by a cheap plastic gold trophy. Or so everybody thinks. Sunset Shimmer can sense the magic deep within it, and the temptation to be in that seat of power yet again creeps up on her; without Twilight Sparkle around to stymie a possible magical advance on the school's students, the odds lean in her favor should she have the trophy in her hands. But in her troubled mind, will friendship prevail over evil and power?

I like this, I am curious to see where Sunset Shimmer character progression will take her, she is a fascinating character I think. Also one little nit pick (Nothing really that bad just a suggestion) thing about Chapter 1, when Sunset Shimmer said that she would bring back classic rock if it killed her, she then should have said to Snips and Snails something like. "When I say me I really mean you." something like that. I don't know I felt it was missed opportunity for a joke. But that's just a suggestion really. Anyway, Loving the fic, keep up the good work
