maybe he's apart of Evan (I read alot, so...I might not remember his name) and manifests with nagic?
Wow! That was intense!
A shame I can only give one like to this story.
I just want to say, Luna got Inceptioned by Wolverine's ghost. As much as I wish to bitch about the impossibly of this, the level of pure EPICNESS of this chapter prevents me from doing so.
I've been following this story since it started. I like the story . But this chapter was overwritten. WAAAY too much detail for too little progress to the story. ( sorta like Heroes and Lost... Leave questions unanswered too long and fans don't care anymore.

Maybe, but if he is real, how did Evan's face suddenly change into Derrek's?
5720976 Yeah... I kinda sorta felt that writing it but at the same time I didn't just wanna say "They experienced WWII in the Eastern European front..." kinda left a little bit short-sided.
This way you kinda get the feel for Luna who felt trapped for the entire duration of the war and when she finally awoke (Only a day later) she couldn't come to terms it was all a dream whereas Evan had no recollection of the dream so he was like "?"
Sounds like someone had been playing call of duty world at war. A lot of what was detailed in this chapter is the same as what you do as one of the characters

Shapeshifting. It also explains how Celestia and Luna knew to address Derrick as a seperate person at the Gala. He physically changes when he switches personalities.
'It has been so long since Poland, when we all met. The man known as Derreck has led us through battle after battle. I undoubtedly owe the man my life yet... I am so terrified of him. His very presence is unsettling. I know for a fact his allegiance and loyalties lies with his country and with us yet when he is angry... I swear I can see the purest of evils in his eyes, a deep burning hatred that cannot be doused except by the blood of his enemies. The man refuses to die. I have seen him riddled... hosed down by dozens of bullets at a time yet stand right back up and continue to fight. Perhaps it is his loyalty to his country that keeps him going or perhaps... something else.
The one named Evan... I do not know what to say. In all these years I have never once heard him speak so much as a syllable, not even a grunt. His courage and valor on the battlefield is without question, and he is a deadly shot. He is not as savage as Derreck but I have seen him brutally beat a man to death before, on more than one occasion. Yet, at other times I have seen him share what little food he has with others. He is so soft spoken that I have even seen him share his food with the wild animals in the forests... I cannot understand this man, no matter how hard I think about it. How could someone so vicious in combat just turn around and care for things as simple as wild animals?
Luna... she is so strange. When I first saw her I thought it was a horrible joke. That someone had painted a neighbor's horse blue. But I found out quickly that was not the case. Our leader, Stalin, had created something far beyond our time. Somehow he had managed to make a horse talk, and then decided to put it to war. It was strange though... the horse... Luna, refused to fight, even going so far as to not even hold a rifle for the longest time. In the end though, she ended up saving our lives on many occasions. It becomes even stranger as her fur begins to... change colors as she kills more often, now not even hesitating to pull the trigger of her rifle. However, despite this, she is still kind at heart. I have seen her show mercy to even her most brutal foes. Even so... I can see it in her eyes. She was not meant for this. She feels a traumatizing guilt that resides inside of her and eats away at her soul.
Why must there be war? Why must we be forced to kill each other? It seems that war has a more serious effect on the innocent, the kind, the generous... the loving. It hurts me every time I have to see Luna's eyes, deeply saddened with what she has had to do...'
This part brought tears to my eyes. Well done. :D
I was completely lost to his entire chapter so I am skipping it.
Edit: I am lost entirely. I have no clue what the hell is going on with this but I quit I can't read this anymore.
Okay, it's like the author has no idea on what he wants with Derrick. Is he real or fake? In the beginning he just appeared out of no where, like the damn mountain, if he is real why the fuck was he just up high up on mount Tia. All the observation on this story I did since Derrick made his appearance, he appeared every where that was convenient for Burdy that needed help. Like the Manehattan incident, the news reported that a lone figure did the damage meaning that Burdy either envisioned him there or they just didn't see Derrick but that doesn't make sense because Derpy was confused why Burdy was talking to someone when he was exiting the mob boss tower whith Derrick. And don't forget the few times the ponies were confused when Burdy talked with Derrick in public like he was with no one and even going to the point of asking him who he was talking too. If you just decided to bring Derrick in as a real person I will be pretty mad at this because one no one questions another human here out of no where. All the appearances Derrick made were like he was just Burdy's imagination, if you were to make him real you should of had him have some interactions with some main ponies in the beginning of his introduction to the story to show us at least he was real and not just in Burdy'shead, and that one time with Discord and Lassie wasn't enoughfor ne to actually believehe was really there. I also thought up the option that Burdy's magic created Derrick but that seems not right because one Celestia and Luna didn't question that there was a another human there even though they know there is only the one: Burdy, two Derrick wasn't invited to the Gala, and I also don't believe Derrick knew Burdy was going to the Gala. Over all I hate that you're bringing in Derrick as a real person instead of him being Burdy's imagination. Him being in Burdy's head makes more sence because in the beginning when he just upped and showed up and Burdy seemed lonely and didn't have many friends besides the few he had, he was going through some big changes and that would fuck up someone's head. So Burdy's head is trying to ease him down with someone familiar and soon developed into something more serious like a mental disorder like multiple personality disorder. I thought Burdy had the multiple personality disorder because he had conversations with Derrick and it even showed his POV in this story.
Just saying I am at the part where Twilight says it isn't Burdy on the floor, this is why I made this rant, and I didn't read any further than that, but my rant still stands if I find out you bring Derrick in as a real person. If you see this I really find your story interesting but I find Burdy amazingly annoying when he is too dense to see Soarin was having sex in the train, Burdy seems more intelligent in the beginning of the story and it seems like he has just only just got more stupider or plain retarded. I can accept him not understanding love but come on how stupid can you be seeing a girl lift up her ass and say "ride me stud~" or seeing a two ponies in a toilet stall with the stallion with his dick out ontop of the mare.
If you read all this. Fuck, you just wasted your time pretty much but thanks for reading my rant I guess.
Okay I would believe shap shifting would be why, disregard my rant if shap shifting is the reason. But Luna does say "That other human" in the dream when she sees Even (Burdy)
In Soviet Russia, horse ride YOU!
she spent a whole lifetime with him and now she wakes up to only find out he wasnt even real. god dammit THE TEARS WONT STOP
