Hello again my lovelies!
Wow, two blog posts within a single month's time frame? I know, I'm really revvin' it up on this end, shit. Fortunately, this one is gonna be less ranty than the last one, or at least I hope so. This blog is going to be about some top tips for someone new to posting on this site.
So I have some big news!
The first, as many of you probably know, is that I have written a squeal to my story Growing Down called How to Cuddle Your Dragon.
It's for a contest that I (hopefully) can place in but it's also just more fun Pike content if you liked that in Growing Down.
For a change of pace, today’s blog post is about something which I actually know about, rather than a fusillade of meandering speculation. I have an Associates of Science in Early Childhood Development, and am currently employed as a preschool teacher. In the interest of clarity and utility, I tried to limit the amount of specialized knowledge in this post. If anyone wants specialized knowledge from my field, then clarifications or questions are welcome in the comments, as always.
I think my writing has reached an impasse. I am having difficulty with several aspects of the writing process. Planning is easy enough, I can write an entire outline in my head in seconds. Characters? I can create a dozen, and name all of the attributes, in the amount of time it would take me to write and complete this blog post. Worlds? I can envision a million of them.
I'm writing my Jinglemas story, and I'm making myself cry and become traumatized.
Is this a good thing while writing?

I did have an editor working with me, but I didn't hear back from them for a long while, and I was hesitant at first to just post what I had, since all the other chapters were looked over before publishing. After all, there's only so much that university students, most of them beginning writers, can comment on in half an hour. I submitted a story today and I deleted my tab, when I opened up a new tab, the story was gone. Do stories disappear when they are being reviewed? (Keep in mind it was a comedy with no nsfw) I haven't used this site before, in terms of writing. How often are stories rejected? Is there a way I can get my story back, as I can publish it to my other various fanfic websites I use? Or is my story gone forever.
EDIT: The cover image uploaded with someone offering a redownload but I'm not sure what the issue was exactly, either way, thank you for all the advice in the comments! You were all super helpful ^^
I'm not sure where to ask for help regarding this but I'm having a really... particular issue.
In a story (unpublished) I made a cover art for it specifically, however when I attempt to upload the image I always get the " 500 - Internal Service Error " screen.
I really hope I don't sound egotistical here, but my follower count has grown into a pretty good-sized number. I think it's safe to say I have some level of influence, even though I obviously don't have all 247 of you hanging on my every word. (Probably not more than one or two of you... at best.) I'm writing an OC story. The character is in my profile picture. His name is Mousetrap. He's a computer expert/ experienced hacker. Haven't come up with a picture for his humanized version yet, though. I'm not sure whether I want the story to be humanized or pony. Here are the things I've come up with for the story so far:
-Mousetrap lives in Manehattan, a busy city where his line of work goes underpaid and under-appreciated, since there are many tech-savvy ponies in that area.
So, how was everybody's weekend? I just came back from Bronycon and I learned so much from the writing panels. I would have to say that the most useful thing I've learned are about two different approaches to the craft; the gardening approach, where you start with an idea and let it grow from there, and the structural style, where you plot out everything in advance.
Valentine’s Day is coming up soon here (yeah, I started writing this a few days ago), a day where we celebrate a martyr who was beaten, stoned, and then beheaded in third-century Rome by giving a big payday to florists, confectioners, and Hallmark.
Also of note, mob executions.
