After years and years of serving ponies across Equestria, after defeating Discord and after restoring Harmony, Princess Luna is happy with her life. She understands that ponies need to use her night to prepare for their coming day, and she lives content with the knowledge that they all can appreciate her nights like she does if they so wish.

Come some careless remarks and ill timed events, Luna begins to doubt herself and the value ponies place in her night. As has been done before, this is a story detailing the fall of Luna from grace and of her becoming the villainess known as Nightmare Moon.

As is my policy, OC's are background characters only and but one appears to fill out the ranks of the cast (Luna, Celestia, Blueblood's ancestor and Starswirl the bearded would be a small cast, no?).

As this is my first serious story, I would greatly appreciate any feedback I could receive.

Princess Luna has always been the worse half of the royals and everypony knows it... She was, and somewhat still is, the devil that's known as Nightmare Moon... She does not wish to confess this horrid truth, for it haunts her continuously. And with being alive for who knows how long, it seems as if the oddest thing in the world has happened to her... Somepony has chosen to love and cherish her... They adore her nightly beauty and how mysterious she is... But, this love of hers is dangerous; she will cause harm... it is but an inevitable truth...

They say that love knows no boundaries. This is the story of a pony in love. In love with a creature that, to most of ponykind, is nothing but a frightening, dangerous, deceptive, emotion-eating parasite. A creature that consumes love, and never returns it.

But what ponies say and what the truth is can be very different things. One pony makes the fateful decision to ignore the voices of society and family, and listen to the voice within...

Changelings have never been welcomed among ponies in Equestria. Forced into hiding by the Elders long ago, most ponies don’t even know what a changeling is. A young princess named Luna crosses path with another princess, a changeling, by the name of Chrysalis. Not knowing of the consequences, a friendship begins to bloom between the two fillies. Differences in the way you live, what your race is, and what you eat doesn't matter. It’s what’s in your heart that matters...Right?

What is the story of the princess of the moon after her return to the kingdom? Was everything rose scent and moonshine as assumed? Or was it a harder way? Time can and will change everypony for certain, that's no lie.

Yet that raises the question for the mighty alicorn. A question that she had been asking herself for a long time. The question of: what can you do, when your other side is the side you need the most?

Princess Luna, Ruler of the night, is furious. For centuries since Celestia and her had taken the land from Discord they have ruled over Equestria bringing it both the night and the day. But Luna has been rejected by those she rules over. They shun the night she works so hard on, and ignore her as a ruler. It is time she reminded them the importance of her night.

In Equestria, there live four races of equines. There are the earth ponies, the crystal ponies, the unicorns, and the pegasi. Little known to most, there is also another race of ponies who live far outside the boundries of their contemporaries. Within the endless beauty and isolation of Polaris City, these creatures of the night look and act as if they were from another planet entirely.

Perhaps they were from another planet....

An experiment in abbreviated narration.

Nightmare Night is not something Rarity has participated in since she was a filly-which comes as a surprise after she spontaneously decides to not only dress up this year, but play pranks as well.

Her choice in costume and disturbing enjoyment of her ever-escalating pranks begin to make Rainbow Dash-who doesn’t want to risk losing her or have her harming their friends VERY concerned.
