My parents must've thought I was pretty helpless too for them to leave me. I think everyone thinks I'm helpless to some extent. I was so sheltered during my life at the orphanage. I admit, it was nice being taken care of and knowing that I was safe. But I wanted to be more than that filly who would just stay in her room all day, waiting for something interesting to happen in her life. I wanted to take action and prove I was anything but helpless. That lead me to do something no one saw coming...

Pre-canon. During their time in Flight School, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are friends - at least until the new transfer student, Gilda, monopolises Rainbow Dash's time. Fluttershy is genuinely happy Rainbow Dash has someone she can practise flying with properly, but life can get lonely for a pegasus who just wants to go down to the ground for some peace.
After an incident with a pair of bullies, Fluttershy does something drastic to her appearance and Rainbow Dash must return to her role as friend and reforge the bonds between them that have grown so thin.
