The next thing she knows, through a sequence of events she didn't have the chance to analyze, the mirror inexplicably transports her, her friends, and Spike, to a mysterious, and dangerous world completely unfamiliar to her, where the only way to seemingly get back home is to go with a band of strange beings, on a quest to destroy a powerful ring in a far off land...

Rainbow Dash, one of the best rookie flyers in Equestria, a loyal friend, and the newest resident of Ponyville. She seems unstoppable, a cyan bolt of lightning tearing through her competition as she trains to join the Wonderbolts. One day, however, a stunt during training takes a horrifying turn as a brutal accident lands her in the hospital. She recovers to a clean bill of health physically, but she has suffered severe brain damage, and has forgotten most of her life. As she begins to recover her memories, a small orange Pegasus filly starts following her around, cheering Rainbow on when she performs her death-defying stunts and calling Rainbow her hero and idol. But why?
Well, little Scootaloo knows that one of the strongest bonds in the world is sisterhood.

Even in the shadow of death, love and friendship will always prevail . . . or does it? Find out when a monstrous beast invades Ponyville and injures Equestria's favorite new princess - Twilight Sparkle - which sends her into a coma that could take her away from her friends. Will Twilight succumb to her injuries, or will her friends succumb to their depression even quicker?

Note: This fanfic borrows elements from a previous story similarly titled "My Faithful Student", which was taken down from this site for unknown reasons. I would certainly credit the original author of the story if I could remember their username. If they are out there somewhere, this is just to show how much I appreciated their amazing storytelling.

Becoming a princess is a big change. Twilight knows that change isn't always easy, especially when you have to say goodbye to your friends.

Before being crowned Equestria's newest princess, Twilight must perform her final friendship assignment; enjoy her last week in Ponyville.

Side-story to Past Sins - Spike almost lost Twilight to a hangmare's noose, but now Twilight is safe and Nyx is a filly again. Normal life is returning. Still, Spike can't ignore the fact that Nyx just isn't the same as he remembers her. Her temper is more volatile, and, when she gets angry, all he can see is the rage-driven Nightmare Moon of legend.

And thus Spike has to wonder: Is Nyx truly reformed, or is she one bad tantrum away from calling herself Nightmare Moon again?

Side-story to Past Sins - Slowly, the wounds inflicted by Nightmare Moon's reign heal. Ponyville is being reconstructed, and the last refugees are leaving the castle. Nyx is with Twilight. Celestia and Luna rule Equestria and guide the sun and moon once more. Everything is as it should be.

But some things are never washed away. These are the things that remain to remind us of the past. They remind us of the good times we've had with friends and family. They never let us forget the mistakes we've made. Everyone has them. Twilight has them. Nyx has them.

And, on occasion, when you share your scars, your photos, and your trinkets with another, they just might share theirs in return.

Hearth's Warming is a time for friends and family to come together, celebrate harmony, and welcome the new year. Nyx is looking forward to just this as she rides the train to Canterlot with Spike and Twilight. She's going to meet her extended family for the first time and wants nothing more than to make a good impression. Yet, the sheen of the holidays can't hide the trouble caused by meddling grandparents, relentless reporters, and a paranoid uncle.

This story, and the Kirin Chronicles as a whole, are being rewritten and published as a new story due to the size of the adjustments.
